| Just bought yeti xl rtr
Hi everyone. Just bought it yesterday. Found this forum last night. Already have read about the rear end bounce and what springs and oil to try. Awesome info. I don't have much knowledge of rc stuff but I'm learning. Things I'm looking to do. Lighting, so I can run it at night. Springs and oil. Read up on getting better steering. Thing turns like an old mack truck. That will take some time though. Don't know what a BEC is or how to wire it. Much learning to do. I'm running it with venom 5k 20c lipos. I'm impressed with it. Really good Power and run time is good to. Time to go play. Batts charged up. Have fun everyone. |

Just got back home. Ran 1 set of batts thru it. Took it up on the power line trail behind my house. It run very good over moderate bumps. But hit something to big and the rear passes the front in the air. Fun to see but not good for it. Definitely needs more ground clearance in the front to. I can see it doing excellent on a dirt track with jumps though. I can say it's a tough little guy. End over end several times and nothing broken. Next weekend I think I'll try the dirt track at my lhs. Tomorrow I think I'm gonna see if my lhs has white and green springs. Get some 35 wt shock oil to. Let the mods begin. |

Until you get a better understanding of lipos just run those till they are dead or you see signs of major puffing, then when you have a better understanding of how to read the specs of lipos and how to take care of them get some better lipos, plus Graphene lipos have recently hit the market and so far they are looking pretty good. I am personally against hobby stores anymore, I order online only now. Here is a killer lipo guide A Guide to Understanding LiPo Batteries - Roger's Hobby Center - Radio Control (R/C or RC) Cars, Boats, Airplanes, Puzzles, Plastic Models, & Trains - Saginaw, MI Here is some great lipos from SPC SPC LiPo Battery Power, Lithium Polymer Battery Packs Their are cheaper lipos such as turnigy from hobbyking that deliver great performance, but you are typically dealing with china with possible longer shipping times and maybe poor customer service, but many guys swear by the turnigy lipos When shopping for new batts also pay attention to the size dimensions vs the size dimensions of the battery box on your rc Last edited by jump_it; 03-13-2016 at 04:15 PM.

Thanks for the lipo link. Already had found spc and bookmarked it. I try to use small businesses when I can. I look and see what I'm buying. I'm seeing on here though ebay is a good source. Just ordered from dhawk. Got the drag link and bell crank Assembly on the way. I hope the install goes easy. From I've read on here should be no problems. Now to search for a better servo. Definitely stick to Jumpit's advice and read up on Lipo batteries with that guide and many others on line. Always balance charge and balance storage charge them. Don't hold full throttle for too long with those Venoms. They are only 100amp batteries. And find a safe fireproof place to store them when your not using them. I may sound paranoid but read up and play safe and you will have no issues.

That article on lipo batts was excellent. That should be included with the rc truck. Guess I'm going to replace the adapters On those venom batts. Thanks all. Could use a little help with parts. Lost 2 rear shock upper bushings Last night. Couldn't find them anywhere. Part number ax31031. Been trying to locate But no size listed in manuel. Anybody have a number For a substitute? | OK. Here's what did last night when I Lost those bushings. I moved the rear Shocks to rear hole. Just to try it. Cause when a shock is angled it reduces Spring pressure. When straight you should Have actual spring pressure. I charged up a set Of batts tonight and ran it. For my type of running And some small jumps about 2 to 4 ft long and 30 in High. It works much better. Torque steer is calmed down Also. The front springs need to be a little stiffer as I have them cranked 3/4 of the way down. Much better for my type of running. Next is the steering upgrade as posted on here. A question I have is what have you fellows Mounted the bec? This really is fun. Testing, research, then modify. After the steering project it will be a rear Sway bar. The torsion bar style. That should Really help to plant the rear end. Thanks to everyone for the info in this forum. | I have the small blue castle bec, I filled it with silicone to waterproof it then mounted it to the side of the tub just behind the receiver box with double sided tape. Make sure you get it low enough to clear the transmission case. Seems to work ok there for me. I posted a thread a couple pages back called ok it's done. One of the photos shows the blue corner of the bec under the transmission case. Last edited by sparwood; 03-15-2016 at 05:56 PM. |

Thanks sparwood. Looks like good spot. The cc bec is what I got. Also ordered the Programmer to set end points. Most of the parts came yesterday. Waiting for the dhawk steering. New rear spring in. These hr springs. The red is 3.3 lb I think. About double what the factory had in. Here's the front. Increase of about 1.5 lb. It sits better anyway. Ran 1 set of batts thru it. Really jumps better. Definitely an improvement. I may try putting the hitec servo in today. My concern is programming the cc bec. Then getting the end points set. I haven't done this stuff before. If you want to program esc later you will need to put wire back in. BECAUSE the rx in this can only handle 6 volts max. Otherwise Fried. I wanted to set it at 7.4 but then he told me nope. I can do the 7.4 volt, but I need a y connector for the bec wires. Then the bec connector that goes to rx Has to have red wire removed from plug. He was adamant about this. Hooked up and downloaded the bec program and set it for 5.9 volts. Gonna order the y connection tomorrow. As he sent me the link for it.
