Glue on beadlock rings were sweet. I never went there. My favorite truck of mine I think was this one. A Utard Jefferson. Super Rooster - remember manual brakes? Side mounted saddle bag Sub C cells, though there may be a 7 cell Energizer 2500 mah AA pack on the servo there. Pede trans and 65 or 55 turn motor. Smashing an aluminum skid into everything. Ahhhhhh, meeeeeemmooooriieees! Last edited by EeePee; 08-23-2013 at 08:37 PM. |

Practically a human cache of RCC history. Pretty sure me and 666 can spot anything. Seems so, anyways. He's good. MAYBE better, but I'd never admit that out loud to him. We haven't even touched the old school Supers. Back when it all started. |

But man there has been alot of changes in the hobby through out the years. |

I ran dig in '06 on a Super. Clod-based rig with a TCS Stick chassis. Ran OG Holmes Hobbies Revolvers with Mamba 25 ESCs. 4WS, Pro-Line wheels, and 40 series Moabs. Batteries were six-cell sub-C packs with three cells per front knuckle. |

How has the popularity and size of the hobby changed throughout the years? Both comps and scale. Has one gone up while the other went down for time periods? Has the hobby been up and down for periods of time? Has any one chassis or class brought rise of demise to the hobby? I am interested in this history. Great thread. I'm a newb to this but not to racing 1/10 offroad. |

In my opinion the motor on axle set-ups have hurt the competition scene. The capabilities are off the charts now for competition crawlers, but they lack that scale realism which attracts newcomers. Plus, it drove the overall price way up to build a competitive rig. The race scene saw the same thing with shortcourse trucks becoming hugely popular in a short period. People are attracted to "scale r/c" vehicles, and it always seems to come back to that. | |

| Re: When was the first USRCCA Nationals? Sticks were new school, changed everything. I saw jason in 05 running two Super Roosters with a stick radio doing donuts in July 05, in Indiana. I was like, WTF? Had my Stick chassis back then too. So did you? You had the Scorpion hydro steer rig back then? You were there I think? Nah is right. SR was THE standard back then. Hyperion, TCS 6, Holmes Revolver, not sure, TCS 9, Poulson axle on top. |
