Yes. And severely. And thus 2.2 Sportsman was born, but a little too late possibly.

Back when Supers were getting crazy we talked about a 14'r class. Same principle. Never got off the ground though.

Thank you. That is very interesting. I started with a comp rig and then went to scale because comp just wasn't that fun.

I was there for the sc revolution. The hobby was small and only at a local level for a long time before Traxxas designed the Slash. Then everyone and their dog had a Slash and was bringing it to the tracks to bash. A lot of new tracks opened. A lot of people stopped driving their new Slash because it could not perform like the fast guys vehicles. Then those new tracks were going bk and started closing. That's one of the reason I don't like Traxxas

Barely. I knew the Sky ESC, didn't care. Pretty sure the HK blue motor is the same thing as TCS 6.

I still wish the 14'r had taken off instead of 2.2s.

Not instead, though, just did. Might have "saved" the bigger trucks. Yes, they're still around but not even close to like they used to be.

So when did the classes, wheel base and gate width sizes come in? Seeing some of the old pics it looked like more of a "run what ya built" type thing.

Also why was 4 wheel steer removed from 2.2 classes? I can understand the Sportsman not having it, but Pro seems to be anything goes but rear steer.

The first crawler RC I saw was in about 2003. A guy I was wheeling 1:1 with built one (I think he was registered here under Krawlr).

14 inch wheelbase. 3.6 wheels or above, maybe. Supers, but run a WB limit and think of the old school stuff. I guess.

EP's 14'r

Probably just an attempt for us farts to run our old trucks.

Gate width was first. I'll say early 2005. We all ran "Supers" more than 2.2, and 2.2 was like "ha ha" to most of us. Big trucks were the norm.

Wheelbase was a crappy situation back then in my opinion, as it wasn't clearly defined enough (though yes it was, and misinterpreted ) as THE LONGEST YOUR 2.2 TRUCK COULD BE was 12.5 inches. I knew too many people who stretched out way beyond 12.5 inches when they hit dig.

Was never a part of 2.2 as far as I know.

This was bad ass. TCS Stick and Giant Tracs with no foams and BBs were awesome.
