WASRs are indeed Romainian and do not have the dimples on the receiver.

The NPAPs and newer production WASRs are both great AK varients.

I'll be damned. I pulled the box out and you're spot on correct. Looks like I was sold a different one from the one I was looking at initially, but the paperwork is for the one I have. No doubt this is my first one to have any dealing with so it's all a learning curve for me.

The NPAPs are really good quality AKs IMO.

Their only issue is the fact that they don't use standard AK furiture.

Not a problem if you plan to keep it stock.

And if you do deside to make changes, just be sure you are looking at furiture made for the NPAP.

The furniture is the reason I ended up with this one. I was looking at a few on the sale rack and ended up talking myself into getting one but I wanted better grain. He came back out with the one I got and I threw the cash down. He had a import lever action 12g real cheap that I almost got, too.

Took it out yesterday and put about 100 rounds downrange. It took about 20 to start cycling good and the rest was smiles. Gonna order some Tom's 1/3 mix for it and see how it comes out.

About a year ago I picked up a Mosin Nagant that someone did some cutting on, about 7 inches off the barrel and the whole handguard part of the stock. I ordered a S&K scope mount for it but the stock left something to be desired. I replaced the butchered stock with a Boyds Prarie Hunter. Haven't shot it yet, still have to bed it and awaiting the pillars, but I have high hopes for it. Doubt it will be a super tack driver but it should do the job for deer and hogs.

This is also my first major project gun, all the reading I have been doing has been a good learning experience.

That stock looks good. I know some hardcore MN guys that'd cringe at a cut down one. Mine has some headspace issues I haven't had time to fully address yet. It passed the go/no go, but bulges the casings and I've only shot it three times. Bucks pretty good like a pump 12g with 3" shells.

I saw a couple used type 53s this morning at one of the gun shop on the way home from picking this up

British .303 sporter, the price was right and they did a damn good job on it. It came with a weaver scope mount and a not so great Tasco, has a nice set of williams sights on it.

Brake Weight, did you check the chamber for any grooves wore into it?

Everything looked fine. Ordered a set of gauges from Okie and it passed. Next was sourcing a couple of bolts and try them.

Added this today. Kind of got on a knife kick and have a couple more coming next week. This is a Becker BK2. I can see what this is a favorite of our troops as it is a great universal tool. The blade is 5.25 long and .250 thick of 1095 Cro-Van. Beautiful work.

I have a nice BenchMade Griptillion and a custom skinner from a local builder coming next week.

Here's a pic of a friend of mine shooting one of my AR pistols.
I love this pic because the AR has a Noveske KX-3 Flaming Pig.

I love the Hogue Exotic wood grips. I thought about a set for my 92FS and still may get a set but i did get a set of Wilson Combat G10s in Olive.

That was my other choice. The g10's have a more modern look to me. Ended up going old school.

A local knife maker, Kael Bryant of Hattisburg, MS, made me a custom skinner with olive G10 grips. Shape is similar to the BK2 above but a thinner and lighter blade for skinning. I really like the olive look on good steel.
