You don't need brakes with all that suspension travel.

If manitou made a 150mm 29er fork i would have gotten one instead because i love manitou forks. Not really a rs fan but this was the highest rated fork for this application. Bench testing it feels pretty good. About to take it out for its first ride. I will give a little review after.

The Pike is an awesome fork...I think you'll really like it. My coworker is a big Manitou fan and loves his Mattoc Pro, but no 29er option which is silly.

Picked up my Christmas present tonight. I'm to lazy to find and bump my old thread.

New MTBs are nice but I like older ones especially ones that have my name on it.
Bought this one for $20 and fixed it up.

Got 2 rides so far on the tallboy ltc. First ride i was not so impressed with the climbing. It was ok, but just made me feel like i was tired because it took more power to climb. Also noticed that the bike is glued to the ground in corners. The xt brakes have the same performance as my xtr and i could not tell a difference. The Pike is one of the best if not the best fork i have ridden on, wow! Had lots of pedal strikes making me think the bb is really low. Tried to crush a downhill segment and was 1 second slower than the czar, i was surprised it wasn't faster than the czar.

Second ride i upped the shock and fork pressure. Bike was still glued to the ground and pedaling became a lot more efficient. Also took the bike off the biggest drop i have done so far and it was smooth. My brain wouldn't let me go over the bigger drop with more xc oriented bikes. Part of the reason i bought this bike was to improve my skill set. Tried it on a downhill ruin that they are cutting in and the bike did great on the jumps and drops. I can just plow through any terrain without even thinking about it. My eyes are also opening to new lines i haven't seen before on the trails which is pretty cool. I think this bike will be good to train on, but don't know about racing on it yet. More running will tell.

Got a new Super 2R and some 100% googles for Christmas. The helmet is pretty cool, converts from full face to half face.

I have the Super 2 in the same colorway! I didn't get the chin bar, but it's an incredibly comfortable helmet.

Yep, very comfy for sure, both with and without the chin bar. It's always a gamble mail ordering something you can't try on beforehand, but in this case it worked. I wanted the chin bar for some of the more technical downhills out around Pisgah. People may make fun of me, but I don't care, dental work and hospital visits aren't cheap.

That's my girlfriends wheel. Pink hubs, and pink floating rotors with flowers machined into them are not really my style.

Think the hub broke from metal fatigue, they are about 10 years old. Spoke tension seams reasonable but i did not put a gauge on it.

Gotcha, hubs look grayish in the pic, didn't even notice the rotor.

I've never seen that happen to a King hub. It's too bad they don't make that color pink anymore either. The pink they make now is much more bright, I don't like it as much as the color you have.
Hope brakes-I built up a few of those back in the day. Good stuff.
