Yep, the plywood base for my pedals made all the difference in the world. With the weight of the 3/4 ply, they don't budge so far. The DIY stands are likely cheaper, not factoring in your time, but making them adjustable for a variety of users / chairs seems like kind of a PITA. I may just order that $90 off Amazon, if it sucks I can always send it back on Amazon's dime.

Been tinkering a bit more with the wheel. Found a forum post with Codemasters official console wheel settings for dirt rally, and proceeded to kick some ass after that. Lots of 2nd and 3rd place finishes, rarely out of the top 5. Managed to catch some oh shit where I thought I was doomed for sure. Wheel is light years better than a controller. It's shocking just how damn good it really is, and really illustrates how other developers are lazy SOBs. I did nail down that Forza 6 is a Turn 10 hot steaming pile, and Forza Horizon 2 is done by Playground studios. Explains why FH2 has FFB that works, and works pretty damn well actually. It has it's own bugs, but they actually focused on the driving physics / feel in a racing game, shocker. Also, confirmed that FH3 is being done by Playground as well, so it should be good. Ha ha, Forza apparently had a manual trans / clutch bug in the beginning as well, but they fixed it. Couldn't fix the force feedback (among other things) apparently though. Eh, like the guys always say, anytime you're annoyed with the bugs in the game, just look at how pretty that 1080p 60fps tire smoke is. |

Come on over, we got a great group that races a couple nights a week. Also, Dirt Rally is one of a very few games I can remember where a good session makes my heart pound, my palms are sweaty, and I'm truly anxious and fearful of trees, rocks inside, etc. Hats off to Codemasters for an incredibly well done sim. |

my wheel came in yesterday! i think Speed ordered his a couple days before me. i wanted it for PC, but to also have the option for Xbox one. so that meant the TX servo base. i also wanted there biggest wheel. which meant the Alcantara wheel. i was able to find a $20 Ricmotech adapter that let me keep my moded G27 pedals. no trickery, no software, just plugs right into the thrustmaster base, and it sees them as default pedals, worked perfect. and saved $100 for the standard pedals and $150 for the pro pedals. i wanted the largest wheel, which was the alcantara wheel. just so happened to be a 8/10 replica of my favorite Ferrari, the 599xx 30cm vs the standard 28cm. Alcantara fabric is from the same factory Ferrari uses in Spa. has padding underneith. the red closest "main" button is a turnable two position rotary dial. and can also be pressed as seperate button as well. size comparison got it all setup. updated firmware from V48 to V50. gonna need to do some rigging to solid mount. sadly mount plate on the RR cockpit is hollow in the middle so i cant just drill two holes for the thrustmaster pattern. currently using the clamp mount with a couple old brake pads to span the hollow gap in the RR plate. havent got to try it on XB1 yet |

Well, my love/hate relationship with Pcars continues. Since getting the wheel, I spent a LOT of time tuning the FFB settings for various cars the other night, and saved all of them. The tunes show in my garage, but if I load one, then try to run that car in free practice, when it finally all loads up I go to edit tune to confirm my settings and they're all at default, regardless of track or car. This game has more bugs than starship troopers.

I would like to thank my Sponsors, my family, and most importantly, Turn 10, for putting all their money and resources into making pretty good tire smoke |
