When I fly in C/S, I go to the East parking lot of Sky Sox stadium. I'll send you a text next time I go. I usually go during the week, so you may have to take an unscheduled lunch break.
We called them the tank killers. Even though they would fly quite a bit slower than the other aircraft (F-15, F-16, F-18, Tornado, etc.) that would come through the boming range, the A-10 gatling gun was a spectacular sight to see. Here's a link to the place I worked (Tolicha Peak). It was a great view from the top of the mountain at 7,000 feet. This website cracks me up...

Just let me know the next time you head to the Sky Sox stadium. Since it's so close that would be cool, and the unscheduled lunchbreak shouldn't be a problem.

When you build an entire airplane around a gun, you know it's gonna be badass.

Another day on the sticks...

Saturday wasn't exactly ideal for flying. The wind kept gusting and as the day went on a chill accompanied the breeze. We started the day with a nice breeze going from West to East but that quickly shifted to a North - South wind by mid-morning. I was able to get the P-47 up for three flights and the Apprentice up for four. I let my brother-in-law fly the Apprentice for three of those flights. I went back later that evening, hoping the wind had died down, but it had actually gone up. The sustained 18mph winds with 20mph + gusts didn't stop me. With the airfield all to myself, I put the P-47 up for another mission. It became very clear that this wasn't one of my best ideas. When turning against the wind, the plane would stall and push the opposite direction I was trying to go. Once I leveled her out she would fight her way through the air but it wasn't easy. Brought it in nice and smooth and decided my flying for the day was over.

There were some really cool "giants" flying that day. A P-51, P-47, 109, F-22 and another jet but I'm not sure what it is (the orange one). I really liked the giant WWII warbirds. They both looked like they had seen combat and could tell you endless stories if you would lend them an ear. Kudos to the pilots/hobbyists who spent so much time detailing those planes.

Some pics.

Great pics, thanks for sharing them. Some really cool planes.

Anyone flying today? Like to come out sometime and watch. I'm going to be picking up a plane real soon.

I don't have time today, maybe later this week or sometime during the week next week.

Nice job on the photos Chad.

Hey Chad I heard there were some crash pics, where are those at?

I should be back in the air within the week, ordered up another stryker.

I didn't take any crash photos of the P-47. I was pretty pissed at myself for that one.

Fixed. Maybe Ty should put one of the balsa birds back together and show Chad how it's really done....
