Mine seems to have much better crawl ability and is not as jumpy now. I think it has to do with the raw torque these 4-poles have right at zero rpm. Geared 18/87
Mine also has a tad of jump, when I had a 14/87 it was pretty good but now that I went up to a 16 it has that jump.

You lose low end control with lower gearing?

I'm running a MMP, 2300kv on 2S in my Losi Nightcrawler and it works great. I found out from WAM that the MMP needs to be in "Sensored Only" mode, not "Smart Sense." Didn't need to tune it down in any way.

Yep, gear down, use the current limiter and throttle profiles to your advantage and I even use EXPO on the radio too. You can make it ultra smooth.

Does the current limiter only limit on start-up or throughout the RPM range?

Just on start up. It tapers off and then you have full nuts.

Ty, if you use current limiter to smooth out the bottom end, will it slow down emergency reverses in a tip-back, or wheel spin changes while turtled and trying to recover?

Thanks. I'll give that a try too.

Anyone have one of these installed in their SCX10 yet? If so how do you like it?

I do. Running the 3100kv & RS. So far I think it sucks for crawling. Absolutely no low end control. If you want to race or hill climb or mud bog or truck pull it might be ok.

My new problem is that if it rolls back, it'll start glitching on it's own in reverse. And don't tell me to add more drag brake, I don't want drag brake. Crazy, never experienced anything like this before.

Right now, I'd say if you want a nice brushless with big power for crawling, stick with a pro4.

I can't believe this took over 2 years to develop for such terrible crawling capabilities.

Ok, I did quite a bit of tuning & testing yesterday & I must retract my statement about it sucking. While it if still a bit away from ideal, it got a lot better.

With the hotwire, I changed a few things.

Sensor only
Throttle profile is set to 1
Current limiter is at it's lowest, 4
Set the dead band quite narrow
Minimum throttle at 10
No timing or boost

TX exp is almost linear now, maybe -15

It is a lot less jumpy now, but still not where I'd like. I tried going down with the pinion, but the motor plate won't allow anything smaller than 18t. I have a BWD FOFF plate coming & will try a 10t pinion next.

I'll have a much better opinion after our G6 tomorrow.

Have you changed the minimum throttle value from 3 (default) to 0? Changing that made HUGE improvements and damn near got rid of the jumpyness for me.

Minimum throttle should be way less than 10.

Waiting on my RS's...I am going to hook them up to my dual MMP and see how they do.

Hopefully next week I will have them running.

This is the setting for when throttle is applied right?

Hmm....maybe it's not 10 then?

I know I turned it down a lot.

I believe so. All I know is that mine was set at 3 as the default and setting it to 0 fixed the jumpyness issue for me.

My Tekin setup is great to crawl with, I'll post up all my settings to see if that helps.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I have it set very close to the bottom of the graph.

Here are all my settings for my Tekin RS w/ ROC 412 motor and my DX3R Pro radio. With these settings I have a ton of low end resolution and predictable control of power with no jumpyness. I think it's about as close as I could get it to react like a BRXL with brushed motor with all the benefits of a brushless setup with tons of power and very fun wheel speed.

Thanks all for these posts - I've been eyeing this motor for my "Tuna Fish" truggy build! Seems the way to go, brushless crawling and some trail running speed to boot...

Cheers,
Doc
