i think i'll get the 2 50x7's so i dont have to dig into the wiring i'll have to make some kinda plate to fill the space but it should be be easy and look decent.

Here is my Cheapbolt running a COB led strip I got off of Wish, got two of them for $2 shipped.
It will only run on 3S, which works for me since that is what all my crawlers run.
Had to make my own mounts but was an easy affair. Seems bright enough.

Have you contacted them? I had great customer service from then when I had an issue with my Yeti eyes.

i freaking love the helios lights. i got the bomber ones, the yeti ones, and even the wraith ones.

Ya me too, there bright on 3s for just having 6 leds. Just wish I could find another one for my 2nd bomber. I bought the last one on ckrc and dont think its returning either. Helios doesn't have shit on there site either. Boo.

hey patman does it look like that strip is narrow enough to be slid inside the vp channel or just mount to the face of it?

i had talked to the guy about some cob replacements for the bomber eyes. he said at the time they were making them there was a shortage on them and they were hard to find.

and yeah i wish they pushed that helios stuff harder. totally cool product and with all the axial cage rigs out there they could sell the crap out of them. i feel fortunate to have them for 3 different axial rigs.

annnd derp... i have 2 rigs with cob lights. i'll check em out tomorrow.

Its been a while since I took it apart but most of those adhesive LED strips are 10mm so theres a good chance it would fit. I'd offer to take mine apart to know for sure but i think i stripped a couple of the screws and don't want to deal with that nightmare until I have to haha.

well.. vp got back to me in a couple days, onetoomanywhatever read my message the same night i sent it and hasnt replied yet.

a simple 'no i dont have anything that will fit the vp bar' would have been quite good enough for me...

Popped one out of the stock "housing" which is just flimsy sheet metal



On 3S power. Obviously hard to gauge output but it's bright, trust me.


Just about an 1/8" shorter on each side than the stock Axial JK roll cage. Tough to tell from the angle of the pic but it basically fits this width perfectly even after I print a housing.


Little wide for a TF2 Hilux. Might work on a roll bar behind the cab.


I think I'm going to order another set so I can feel really confident hacking them up to see if they still work.

You can be confident cutting them. Cut any amount off and whatever is left will still illuminate. Done it several times

This was my assumption based on the layout of the circuits and the board structure. Good to hear.

can you cut a section of the light portion off and they will still work? or is it just the board around the light?

i just ordered a new vp strip since it wasnt that much.

You can cut the entire assembly down and whatever is left will still work. I take off the black metal housing and the cut the board down. Once its to the right size trim/bend the metal housing to fit around the cut board.

yeah i saw that... i tend to be a bit critical when it comes to communication.

the vp strip wasnt that much, i went ahead and ordered it but will definitely be using el-cheapo cobs for any future stuff. good to know you can cut them in half and they will still work. (if im understanding that correctly)

Good info, btw hobbyking has all kinds of strip leds that can be cut at specific intervals and soldered up, they come in lots of colors too. Super Bright LEDs is good too.
