Is it OK to put my ESC in a box? I have an empty receiver box into which the esc fits and it would help with some of my rebuild. ANy problem with heat? Should the esc be exposed? Thanks! |

What ESC, motor, and vehicle? LiPo cell count and gearing? Did you ever have your ESC get noticeably hot before the rebuild? In some cases, if your setup is relatively unstressed - you might be alright. However, since most ESC are waterproof, there's no need to box them up and allowing them airflow by leaving them exposed is best. Is something else going in the electronics box? If not, you could leave the lid off an test it - checking the heat after running a pack through it. |

Never noticed the ESC getting especially hot before. Here's my setup: Traxxas 2.5 (Converted from gas to electric) ESC = HOLMES HOBBIES TRAILMASTER BLE PRO Vehicle = Traxxas 5675 Titan 775 Motor 10-Turn 16.8 Volts Battery = SPC LiPo Power, Lithium Polymer (LiPo) Battery Pack; 5000mAh, 50C, 4S, 14.8V Hard-Case Pinion = 20 Spur = 72 If leaving the lid off is best, then I'll do that. It just seemed like a convenient way to secure the ESC, since it fits in the box so nicely. |

Sounds like a fun little beastie of an RC - but I'll admit that those specs are pretty far away from what is typically run in a crawler. You've got the best idea - just set it up in the box, do your first runs with the lid off and see how it's going, then a test run of maybe 15 minutes with the cover on. Post pics of that rig in the "Non-Crawler" section, sounds interesting! ![]() Miscellaneous - Non Crawler RC's at RCCrawler.com |

Oh yeah, I forgot, it's not really a crawler, unlike my other four vehicles which really are crawlers. I'll post some pix in the Non-Crawler section. Thanks for you help! |
