It did really well last night!
I was very surprised!!!

It's just a very different feel compared to droop.
It drove right over everything I pointed it at but one line.
I know it can do the line, but it was one of the first ones I tried. So I eventually moved on.

I need to find a way to get more articulation out of it tonight though.

Just an update:
if all goes well the demon chassis will be released in about a week!!!

Also at 801rcc's most recent comp, the demon chassis placed
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th place!
Complete dominance!!!

not bad considering there are only 4 rigs with this chassis at the moment!

Sounds like there needs to be a disabled driver on this chassis team
Woulda had all top 5 spots!

Looks like good work

Well I got my hands on the new production DEMON chassis this weekend and am just starting to do the rebuild.

I will be rewiring my rig this time and changing up the shocks a little!

Here is what I started with

with the length of the skid and the links being inboarded, you have to pay close attention to the rod ends!
I have always found that with all my chaotic crawlers skids, that you should take a razor blade and just trim the inside corner of the skid.
This gives the rod end just a hair more clearance for movement!

Skid as it comes

skid after trimming

Once I got the chassis all mounted up, I decided to do the traxxas driveshaft mod for mounting the shocks.
I found that I had to grind the tops of the shock body to make it work with losi shocks.
You can see it's still very close, but it's bind free!

next I started on my new electronics setup.
So I started with some black .080 styrene and attacked it with a dremel to achieve the shape I needed.

then after it was all mounted up. I found that my screws didn't let my rx sit flat so I made a spacer to raise it up a hair.

then my pregnant wife decided she wanted some ice cream, so I decided I needed some too!
I love this ice cream and have decided to share this with all of you!
Start with vanilla ice cream and top it with chocolate milk mix powder.

then mix thoroughly and enjoy!!!

now I am off to start soldering!

It's basically done.
I've just been busy turning my spare bedroom into a nursery, so I had to put this rig on the back burner.

I'll post pics of it soon. I just have to button up all the wiring and clean it up now.

well, I finally finished up all my wiring and all the little stuff!

this is probably on of my cleanest electronics setups to date.
everything is super low in the chassis, and there is no binding due to electronics touching chassis or links this time.

I have to say that I love building rigs!!!
whether its wiring or building or suspension tuning, I love doing it!!!

here she is!

you can see how low it all sits in the chassis here.

from underneath.

you may also notice that I have different rear lower links now.
I was doing some testing to see what links would work best since the chaotic links wont be ready for a few weeks.

the traxxas 102mm links will work if shorthened a 1/4" total and bent atleast 20 degrees.
I shortened these an 1/8" on each side.

I got the bosy posts mounted and the lid slammed as low as i caqn get it!

I can't say enough about how much I love driving this rig!
We just finished our last comp of the 801rcc points series this weekend.
And once again for the second month in a row the DEMON pulled off a 1-2 finish!!!

of course with me winning the comp by a landslide!!!

I couldn't believe some I the lines I could pull off while fun crawling!
Almost near vertical faces and ridiculous sidehils and transfers!

I am more and more impressed every time I drive this rig!

It's not an easy task to win an 801 comp considering we are driving with ex national champs and some of the most incredible drivers in the nation!

I can't wait for AWCC now!!!!

I'm bringing the heat!!!!!

I really want to, but money is tight right now.

I'm working on a way to get there and beat up on some locals!

problem is I can't make nationals this year since my baby boy is due that week!
So if I won, I would essentially be robbing somebody of a way in.
Even though I already will have the invite from our points series.
