Default Harvo's Disco Ultra

Let's begin with this...........
enlarge and play in HD to see the awesome skin graphics

Dlux Ultra Chassis
Dlux Cases and Tubes
Dlux Proto Wheels
Dlux Proto knuckle weights
BROOD Power
Krawler Konceptz Sugga Skins
Crawler Innovations Foam
Ottsix Voodoo silvers and blues
Big Bore Shocks / Dlux Pre-unloaders

I diverged from the design a little by using a Chaotic skid and narrowing the inner chassis up a considerable amount. I also worked with Erik on a new shape for some rear lowers. I really like the way it all turned out.

I have lots to post about this truck. I assembled the chassis about 3 weeks ago. I put on the new knuckles and proto weights the night before I left for ECC. And I had a total of 1 battery pack on the chassis on rocks before Practice day at ECC.

The truck pulled a 2nd Place.

It's awesome. I'll post some close up pics tomorrow, but everyone was looking at them at ecc scratching their heads and saying how the heck....

Great job at ECC and on the build! Guess this answers my chassis question. Haha

I can't wait to get my wheels and weights. They are so badass.

Great job on 2nd place! You looked to have driven consistently all day long. I think that says a lot!

Those skins are bad ass. Do you have any shots in direct light where you can see more detail?

So this is what I was looking at the night before I was to leave for ECC. I had to get the V-2 knuckles (I have some V-1s for sale now ) and the wheels because they are part of the new weight system. If you already have the V-2 knuckles... you are good to go.

The toughest part of the entire assembly was the part that required the use of lexan scissors. Oh... and figuring out how a square peg goes into a round hole.

More details and close ups soon.

Great job this weekend Harvo. Was a pleasure!

As for the wheels.. When I started looking closer at them, I wanted to pick it rig up of the rock and examine them closer.. So I walked away (I think we were running the top 15 course, lol)
Im still baffled by them.. Can wait to see some pics of how they work in the inside..
See ya at the next big one

But Weight..... there's more

Most people at ECC saw this just by glancing at the truck...

Then a few people said "what the heck" and picked it up and saw this...

Then they still said... "what the heck"

It's the newest and most innovative weight system I've seen yet from Dlux. The weight is inside the wheel but on the knuckle... much lower than conventional knuckle weights, but totally hidden... unlike conventional under the knuckle weights. This system gets the weight as low as it can get and as far out ward as it can possibly be at the same time. It makes for some incredibly stable handling.

This is the profile of the weight, with nothing sticking outside the wheel or under the knuckle to catch rocks.

My weight system is made from brass, but I think it can be made from delrin or aluminum as well. It holds the derby slugs and has a provision for an extra brass ring as well. You can load these up with a ridiculous amount of weight.

My truck weighs in at about 3lbs 2oz even with no knuckle weight. RTR with this system it is 4lbs even. And that is with only 3 slugs in each side.

Weights that tuck down inside the wheel obviously need a special wheel. These are made of G10, are really light, and pretty inexpensive for wheels. They are designed to allow the weight inside between the beads.

No special foam required and the profile of the tire is the same as when they are on conventional wheels. Mine are .8" wide.

The slugs are finger press fit with a dab of lock tight for insurance.

The difference is quite impressive between these and even the last set of Dlux knuckles with weights I had. I mentioned stability... In the rush to get the truck done for ECC, I had to cut down some hubs. I eyeballed them and they came out even... so I went with them. After ECC I measured the track width. 10.4" wide up front and just over 10" in back I normally run 10.8 up front and 10.5 in back, and I didn't even notice the difference on the side hills.

That's some cool stuff for sure. The truck was definitely a stand out on the rocks at ECC.

I'm going to repeat a statement I said a long time ago. The man that can channel a wheel to allow the weight to set lower, will have a superior rig. This design is fantastic and will bring anyone's rig to the next level. The more we push the weight down into the tire carcus the better the rig will perform. In my opinion the number one thing you can ever do to a crawler is place all the weight you can below the axle as low as possible and maintain a good front and rear bias! Excellent work guys!
