Thanks the steering worked out great, I used 3/16" solid alum rod. I tried It with 1/4" but the little bit larger dia hit on the servo mounting post and the servo arm. The 3/16" clears everything just barely. Had to slightly bend the servo arm.

Just a couple more quick notes, when I set out to build this foff I had a few goals in mind. 1 I wanted a super strong/ ridged yet light chassis, The chassis side plates are 3/16" aluminum and the skid is 3/8" delrin the upper electronics plate are 1/4" delrin. It is super stiff I can't twist it at all. 2 I wanted to be RTR under 5lbs. As it sits right now, minus battery and rear drive line, its 4lbs 1oz. So I think I'm on target, the batteries I have in mind are 8oz.... |

| longer MIP Bone part #9169 (for the summit) its just the Bone by its self, no CVD internal parts inside, but the CVD internal parts is the same size as a MIP CVD for the ax/10 - 5mm input shaft. so if U have another MIP CVD, use the internal parts for the longer summit shaft simple & plenty long enough !! bullet proof & only around $13.00 the DmG |

Thanks for the Info! I was looking at those shafts, and thinking about making an adaptor from 5mm to 6mm, but with this info I'll see what parts I have left over from some hacked up shafts. This just might be the ticket.

Thanks for the great info on drive lines, the DMG rear shaft is my fall back option. I took a good hard look at the parts I have in the parts bin and came up with this. I guess If your going to call it A "build" you should build some parts. So I cut up a previously shortened shaft ( for my crawler) Took A grade #8 5/16" bolt, bored a hole through it on the lathe Pressed the two pieces from the old shaft into it. This lengthened the male side by 1 1/8" Then I welded it all up, put it back in the lathe and turned it smooth, Runs true so it should be fine. I'll rock it for now since funds dry out around the holidays It fits perfectly gives me plenty of spline engagement at all suspension positions. Last edited by Hacksaw707; 11-27-2011 at 09:43 PM. |

| So this F'ing thing is real close to being finished, I'm just about done making front and long rear beef tubes,Just waiting on Axial to make more overdrive gears, So I can install at the same time.........I guess I'll have to run the stock gears until they turn to mud |

A few quick updates on the Homebrew I got the long dong extended rear shaft in. It worked out real well, very smooth in all positions. Also since I'm kind of on hold waiting on some overdrive gears that should be here next week(thanks Johnnyh66) before I can install my beef tubes and new lockers. I made up a grill to finish off the body. It fills the void left by the molded winch I cut out....What do you think |

Home made. My favorite. Those RJ Speed bodies kick ass. Love the stance If you go any wider it may look funny. You did a good job on the grill, but it ain't no CJ grill |

| Thank You, yeah I like the stance too, I'm not sure yet what I will do with the wheel issue. The nose was pinched too much to cut 7 vents it looked funny, they were so crammed together.. Besides it custom... |
