i have a stupid question. why is the transfercase so far from the tranny and not in a straight line. is the scx10 platform not allow this?

My plan is to install the front axle an 1" to 2" in front of the trans.

I don't think it will be an issue. I know it looks a bit low, but with the axle being even lower than the trans it should be good.

The reason is because I didn't want to cut up a perfectly good MIP shaft that I might be able to use later or in another rig.

Next thing to do is mock up the suspension links and axles. This will give me my wheel base and allow me to get the steering servo mount made. I should give me exactly what I am looking for.

scale transfercases are mostly all bolted to the tranny.

hack that shit up mips are only like 50 bucks

i was wondering about a short chunk of pipe or rod with ends welded on it to make the transfer more or less solid mounted.

something like that i could possibly come up with and spit out of the miller fab shop

Ya know, I'm thinking the same thing. My idea is to take 2 pieces of 1/4" tubing bend them into shape and flatin them out a bit, enough to be rigid and drill 2 holes to bolt the trans case to. If done correctly they just might look real.

I'd like to see your version.
