| Building my first FOFF
So I want to start getting together parts for a FOFF car, i see theres lots of different set ups out there but what dose everyone think is the best for FOFF..? As for budget i want to keep this car under 1000$ it will be my last winter build before i start the busy season for my work. and i wont be able to get into the rc's as much. been doing some looking and i think im going to go with this chassis FOFF Whiplash 13.5" - Billet Works Designs Last edited by gunder463; 04-15-2014 at 10:46 PM. |

when i look at that all i see is a crawler. both front and rear shocks are layed down alot. i think for the same money you could get a wraith skid and frame and have shock mounts better suited for high speed. i personaly would run 2100-2650 8th scale power. but there are lotsofother lower voltage 10th scale motors and esc's that will work. if you dont like the wraith looks you can always hack up its frame and mount whatever body you wanted on it. 150 buys alot. wraith skid is 7 bucks and new frame kits are about 80. ax10 may even be a better frame with shock mounts more vertical. you could build links to make the 13.5" mark. id then run a hot raceing scx10 tranny with exstended outputs and tmax drive shafts cut to lenght. wouldnt mess with shocks till the build was almost done and the axles of choice where mounted. revo gtr shocks would be considerd good lucks |

ooo thanks for all tht info i suppose ill pick up a scx chassis then because i like the look of all the builds using those, and im experienced with the link making process so thats nuthin new, i guess ill go to the hobby shop and start buying parts and as for power plant i want to run my tekin rx8 witha 2650kv motor, i wanna get one of those bomb proof trannys they use in the crawlers but i cant find one and there out of stock. if anyone has any other suggjestions just shout it out im open to anything this is my first build of this sort, alright sweet, should be a fun build cant wait to start ordering parts. alright ill have to look into that, i think im going to use ar60 axles i like the wide stance they give, Last edited by THX_138; 03-28-2014 at 01:00 AM. |

2650 kV will need a tranny lift to clear. DMG might make a tranny spacer to raise it up so big motors clear the skid plate

I run an 1/8 motor in my foff. Its a 1965kv motor. I don't use a transmission because of the lower rpm. I use 2 1/8th transmission mounts instead and run 44T spur and 20T pinion. Made an adaptor up and used a tmaxx forward only shaft which has flats on each output. Mod 1 gears don't care about sand at all. |

If you look down through this page of the build, you can see i changed from a 1/8 buggy/truggy style motor mount to the Tekno RC mount . Version 2. Last edited by M1tch; 03-19-2014 at 06:12 PM. |
