Many hundreds of years ago, I worked in retail. Items had a list price of course, and a dealer net. We (the store) could set our selling price at whatever we chose. We controlled our profit margin. So, if we elected to undercut the competitions' price, well, that was on us. Curious to read your take on this.

Both scenarios happen today all the time. When you agree to sell a company's product, the retailer typically agrees to terms of the supplier which often include must advertise pricing as well as restriction on discounts and gross profit margins. For example, look at Apple products and how their prices are the same across the board.

That's why Jato.... you are an acknowledged cheapskate , which is fine. Until you own or manage retail your knowledge is quite limited.
You act like you know me. You don't. I am far from a cheapskate. I'm an intelligent consumer.

Thankfully, I have never had to scrape the retail barrel for a job. That doesn't mean I don't understand business. I fail to see your point at all.

It's a fine line between ensuring an even playing field for everyone and price fixing. Just depends upon which side of the coin you're looking at. Right or wrong, well that's open for debate, and this thread is proof of that!

Scrape the retail barrel..... that said it all . Try owning a retail business , if you did you would understand.

You are an intelligent cheapskate , if that makes you happy......

Let's face it. Most, but not all, retail jobs are entry level and some of those are brain dead entry level. I was lucky enough to skip that because of my skill sets.

I would never open a retail store. That's like committing slow, torturous suicide in the modern economy. In most industries, retail is a dying and will go the way of the rhino. You'll find them, but few and far between.

I think it is pretty straight forward. When a company tries to do price fixing, they are trying to buck the laws of supply and demand.

That might work when you have a product everyone wants, but that doesn't cut it when you are no longer the only player in the game.

Since the coupon issue started I have definitely seen a change in my purchasing habits. Two new rigs within that time, and neither are axial products.

That not only means they lost 2 sales, but also the parts sales from future repairs.

Price fixing isn't a horrible idea, but when it makes your completion cheaper, and they have equal quality and support all price fixing does is drive away customers.

Your most arrogant and ignorant statement yet..

I think you have your opening statement backwards.

Stating facts is now ignorant? I mean do you seriously want to argue that entry level retail jobs are for highly skilled individuals? Sorry, nobody makes a career out of being a cashier at Best Buy.

So what's your argument? He didn't stay in an entry level job. He moved out of the retail store and into corporate.

I believe you dissed the retail life, you start at the bottom and work your way up. That's how it has always worked. Retail life is not for all , but for those of us who understand a rewarding and profitable life follows

I'm sorry I hurt you and your peeps. Retail life fo' life!

I respect anybody that starts at the bottom and works their way up in any industry.

How about we move back to the topic now?

You said most retail jobs are entry level. I call that statement arrogant and ill informed. Sorry that's my opinion since I've actually worked in the industry for 13 years.

I wouldn't argue that "some" are... not "most"

Fair enough. Can we just move on now? You can say all engineers are assholes if it makes you feel better. I don't care. Let's just move on!

Sure thing. I also wouldn't call all engineers assholes, just some.
Besides we need engineers after all, who would drive the train then !

Moving on...

RPP has a 15% off sale in progress.

Except of course on Traxxas and Axial models.

Now, we're back on topic! (I think)

So, where's the "beating a dead horse" emoji?
