I've been searching the web looking for official battery size specs from Axial but can't find anything. I did find one post that says the user installed a Spektrum 4S 50c batt smart batt with dimensions of 138mm long x 47mm wide x 38mm high. He said that the length and width were spot on, aka no longer or wider batt would fit in the space available. There was no mention of maximum height though.

Looking at specs for many brands of 3S and 4S batts out there, many of them exceed his length and/or width measurements in anything 60C or greater. Seems like 50C and less would work though. However, Spektrum's own 100C rated batts will fit (go figure since Axial and Spektrum are all part of Horizon Hobby now).

How important is the C rating on a vehicle like this? Do you think it'll still perform really well with a Gens Ace 30C or 50C batt versus a Spektrum batt with a 100C rating?

Thanks!
My ruler says...140mm x 47mm x 55mm ish. measured with a ruler and scetchy eyesight...

My 5000mah 3s 20c packs fit with room to spare, they have plenty of punch and last about 1.5 hours of my bashing..

Jay-em... old racing trick is to install the body clips from the rear of the rig, vs the front like the way mine came... that way impacts push them on harder instead of pop them off.

I see on most youtube videos that the biggest I have seen is 5000mah 100c spectrum smart battery

Over here the important parts aren’t available. No Swaybar, no front axle housing. Although the orange cage ìs available, as is the grey one. I hope Axial will produce more colours if the Ryft actually takes off (something I am none too sure of, tbh €530.- without any accessories or extra parts, is way too much for what it is imho. For a bit more One gets a fully fledged TRX 4 with lockable diffs, 2speed, all alu swingarms etc. ) A bit like Kyosho did for the Javelin. I lóve my custom red Javelin with gold optima alu parts. So, a red cage for The Ryft, or a lime green one ? ‘Count me in’

lol...Spectrum 100C tested at a true 25C. C ratings are a joke. In a crawler, just get the cheapest...I got a pair of Floureon hard case 2s 5000 for like $50.

For higher demand trucks...look to the chart.

I would not hold my breath for a rainbow assortment of Ryft colors just based on Axial’s glacial pace at changing/adding options to existing rigs...so many things I’d like to see from them first (Gladiator kit, JLU kit with straight axles, rbk 6x6(!)...a boy can dream lol. They have all of the parts and I feel like there would be demand.

My Ryft is out for delivery today, and I actually have someone at home to sign for it! Can't wait to test this thing out.

What connector does the truck ship with?

It has an IC5 on the ESC which works with EC5 connectors.

Ok, thanks. I guess that will be my first mod, swapping it to a Dean's connector.

By doing that you will lose all the smart technology the Ryft comes equipped with.

If you don't want to buy a Spektrum smart battery you would be better off to resolder one of your batteries to an EC5 connector.

You will still lose the smart features, but they will be retained in the truck for resale value or if you buy a smart battery in the future.

Wait, AVC won't function without one of the Spectrum smart batteries?

Better yet, make an IC5 <-> Dean's adapter. This way you leave both your battery's and the Ryft's connectors alone.

Good idea, I think I do have an ic5 connector I can use!

I don't see AVC could even know whether or not a Smart battery was being used, but I'm not very familiar with AVC.

The AVC is not affected by the battery, you just wouldn’t get the battery telemetry data (capacity mostly, the ESC can still provide total pack voltage with any battery) sent to your radio without the Spektrum battery.

Just got through playing with my Ryft for a bit!

First thoughts are that I'm gonna be swapping this thing for a sensored setup very soon. However, I'm going to take it to a trail and try it as is first, just to see how it goes first. It's definitely made for a totally different style of driving than I'm used to lol

Is there a way to change up the esc settings with this esc?

What's you guys thoughts on this system? https://www.hobbywingdirect.com/prod...31927047225459

I have a Mamba X and Tekin 4 pole in my Gom. I know the FOC system is totally different, but it looks intriguing.

Yes it looks like to me a Hobbywing menu... There are multiple settings in the manual. I have yet to try my programmer on it though

After driving four, 4S batteries and 3 different drivers, here is our first impression/ review on the Axial Ryft.
