I agree, 2018 is the comeback year. I also think aftermarket will be hitting early next year.

I'm liking the SCX-10 Honcho wheels on the FJ. Substitute some hex head scale hardware for the stock beadlock hardware and I'd say that they would be a perfect set of trail beater wheels.

Those flats on the CV shaft could be used as a guide to extend the flats down far enough on the shaft to fully engage the spool.

Lol thats what I was thinking, I will be doing that to a set of vvds, just haven’t yet.

The axial beadlocks are growing on me but I think I’m gonna spray them white.

If you guys don’t know already, the scale king (exclusive RC) is making all kinds of stuff for our ventures.

I see a dash, seats, etc all in the making

They already have a snorkel, couple cool rotopax mounts, door handles, grille and wipers.

I myself ordered the snorkel and rear window rotopax mount today. Also sensored brushless system is on order as well

Thanks for the info. One of the first things I did was tuck the bumpers in as close as I could.
Fj is looking good with those wheels.

Ended up just getting the snorkel. It does look super scale! Can’t wait for the interior parts. My links should be shipping to, just waiting on the PayPal to the guy and he will be sending them!

Ok, after a quick test run in the backyard rock garden, the steering leaves a lot to be desired in the servo department, lol. I also was wondering what was restricting the turning radius.

So I took it apart and found the little steering stops on the c-hubs. A few minutes of dremel work and they were gone. No change in steering angle. So after some more investigation the dog bones themselves are the actual limiting hard stop. I confirmed this by taking them out and putting the knuckle back together and immediately gaining a good bit of steering.

So my next experiment was to see if anybodies' CVD's would fit. I tried SCX10 OE, Ascender, and SCX10.2. None of them fit. The closest to working was the SCX10.2 U joints but they won't work because of the inner big bearing in the knuckle. The knuckles will not swap either as the "C" is narrower on the venture.
On all the others the CVD portion of the axle would not fit in the C-hub.

So looks like we are waiting for HPI or the aftermarket to develop some CVD's or u-joints that will fit these C-hubs so we can get some more steering angle.

Yeah I had already tried that lol, had the same idea as you at first but nothing will swap over. Gonna just wait for those aftermarkets.

Did a little tinkering tonight. Really wanted to mount a winch and my biggest pet peeve (it’s just and opinion) but winches that hang off the bumper. It looks tacky to me, then there is less approach angle, bumper is really far from the body, etc etc.

Got the fair lead mounted to the bumper, and winch to the frame/ bumper mount. No rubbing and it works excellent. Only lost about 1/8 of inch of bumper clearance from the body, which is nbd to me.

Here’s what I came up with

Yes the winch mount is slightly crooked, broke a drill bit and in turn lost my nice starting hole lol

Found some more time to do something that protects the inside of the truck.

WHEEL WELLS!

Coincidentally, my wife got new Tupperware for Christmas so what a better time to make some out of her “cheaper” stuff.

I’m sure you’ve all seen this before so I’m not gonna explain how to do it. Just take a look at the pictures! I will be hitting them with a few coats of back spray paint.

So that's how that's done! I was wondering how they get the winch hidden. Well, that won't work for me when I shoehorn in that Holmes Hobbies 550 can motor. USPS couldn't deliver it today. They are incompetent morons! So hopefully the motor will be redelivered tomorrow.

Guess what today is.... nvm I’ll tell you,

Paint wheel wells and wheels.
2- coats outside of wheel well
2- inside

3 coats white on wheels and 1 coat clear

It’s a little cold out side lol 15* but I’m only taking them outside to paint then right back into the warm!

I’ll install everything tonight and put up some pics.

Paint was dry enough to work with, couldn’t wait to get it together.

Wheel wells installed, and wheels put back together!

Decided to go ahead and move the battery tonight. This is what I came up with. It’s not perfect, it’s not beautiful, but it should work.

Removed esc (it already looks like a perfect spot to mount s battery!)

Had to shim up some to get the clearance from the dog bone to the transfer case. Being that it doesn’t flex, I have around 1/8 of inch, so rubbing should never be an issue.

Before it was all tightened up

Need to grab another battery strap but she fits, and it works

Looks good. Do you think you would have enough slack in the wires to get the ESC mounted in the forward part of the factory battery tray?
