I'm considering getting rid of a truck or two and picking up something on road (tc3/4/5 rs4 etc). Anyone local want to do some parking lot racing?

I have also been thinking of getting into cars. I've been doing alot of indoor offroad slash racing and saw some of the cars going around the track, man those things are fast. I really like the "vintage" series by HPI like the Mustang, Camero, Corvette, and Cuda. I just need to sell of a few things first.

I'm leaning toward something like a tc3/4 with a sidewinder and 4800 brushless on 2s. Then sticking on an hpi vintage camaro lid.

Friday nights 9pm until 3am (Spring/Summer/Fall) at RT 83 and St Charles Road in Elmhurst......SWEET parking lot.....lots of NIGHT activity. They setup a HUGE oval, and run everything from electric converted buggies .....to nitro road machines.....and everything in-between. GREAT group of guys.....SMOOTH parking lot.......no cop problems. The guys from Al's hobbies are all there as well.

I've got my old Electric 4-Tec with all the graphite goodies and a VXL on it and a FWD Tamiya M-03 Rover Mini Cooper that needs an ESC and a little transmission maintenance. That one may eventually get the Short Course version of the new Dynamite Fuze ESC and Motor combo...which should handle a 3s lipo too |

I've got a tc3 that I bash with time to time. If your looking for something shaft drive is must have. Gravel and brushless power strip belts like crazy. Gear diffs are better if your like me and like to drive crazy fast slideways. I keep melting ball diffs in the TC3 just to much go. Course I'm running 4300k with 3c geared to the moon. Car went so fast in this huge parking lot near me that the aerodynamics screwed with it and made it pull complete airborn back flips at 60-80mph. Part support is getting rougher now a days though. Still can't find a 200mm front arm set. I made my own but well they are ok I guess.

The problem Ben has with his TC3 is the same reason I put the diffs out of my old Nitro 4-Tec in my E4T, there was no way in hell the standard ball diffs that the E4T's would withstand that kind of abuse.

Josh... I would think you would know me well enough to know I don't do the night thing well....lol I know ht st charles does some summer racing and last summer R/C hobbies was doing some "organized" racing in the parking lot on sundays... nothing big and formal just a blocked off area with a general course. The Romeoville highschool has a huge parking lot and they don't mind people using it in summer. Couple yrs back some coworkers were going there every sat... the cops would stop by and clock. Now the plane guys are out there every Saturday morning. I've also got a huge deserted parking lot that used to be a jewel with a road next to it that the village didn't want to fix so they blocked it with concrete barriers. Its a little rough but perfect for rally and no chance of getting ran over. I'm finding tons of tc cars on ebay for under 100 rtr a few rollers on here but seems people here are wanting more. So what's the concensus, more vintage racers or more drifters? |

What about a combo, a vintage drifter? That would be interesting. I'm not a big import fan if you couldn't tell.

Racing. When I had my old tc3's if I wanted to drift I just wrapped electrical tape around the tires. Worked fine. Lol

Ive got a tc3 on the way (found a smoking deal) now I need a motor and figure out a good steer servo. It has 2 bodies with it but I need to figure out a good vintage lid (toooo many to choose from).

Don't know much about the Mustang bodies, but the '68 Camaro is supposed to have the best down force and I have heard that the AAR 'Cuda tends to blow over when running in excess of 45mph. Don't know if the latter it true since I still haven't painted up the one for my E4T yet. Still want to try the bed liner on the roof for a vinyl top look and with any luck, that may change the supposed "lift" characteristics with this body too |

I think the Stingray looks better, plus you wouldn't need a mullett like you would with the Camaro Sadly, if you're going to be racing the Vintage T/A class, the Stingray isn't allowed:-(

BTW, if you want something more modern, I do like the C6 Vette body that's on the E4T right now. Even without the spoiler it seems to work as good as it looks!
