Jason, what color U4 tires do you have? I'm not sure what the difference is.. One says ultra soft gold and the other extra soft silver.. I'd think the ultra was softer but, the extra is out of stock at rpp so, i'd think that one was more popular.. Hmm

F-it, I got the golds. Another question though.. What CI foams did you go with? I heard the Deuces Wild Standards were the way to go. Your CI wheels are non-beadlock, right? Any problems with the foam stretching the tire inside bead larger in diameter making it difficult to glue? I want a foam that allows the tire bead to sit tight against the wheel even with the foam installed.

i got the golds, and the standard size single stage foams. the foams literally snap into the c.i. wheels and fit very snug against the bead.

Yeah, I was wondering about the beads vs. no beads thing.. Not ideal for rock crawlers but, I figured it'd be better for faster stuff like short course trucks, U4, buggies, etc. I'm working on some special 2.2 non-bead wheels.. I mean, i'm still going to make them but, maybe i'll want to figure something out as far as ensuring the tire stays on good. I've thought about screwing them.. Like some drag racers screw through the wheel and into the tire to keep the tire from rotating on the wheel.. That plus glue. But, that will kind of commit that set of tires to that set of wheels. But, I don't think thats a very big problem. I could incorporate scale hardware to double as a tire screw.. I don't know. I want to make a couple sets because its a fun project and I like shiny new machined parts. I'm working on a 2.2 version of this wheel I found.. All decked out with scale hardware, polished.. Mmmmm! |

| Re: NIRC. Chit Chat i dig the c.i. plastic wheels. why you no like them? on a go-fast rig a heavy wheel is gonna create alot more problems and stress on the drivetrain, its like going from steelies to a super light mag on a 1:1. you can really feel it.

im still ordering parts... sucks to have to wait for things that aint made yet. i ended up going open front and just mixed in some cornstarch to firm up the diff until theres a better option for going locked than the modded slash4x4 setup. Last edited by badhoopty; 09-25-2014 at 07:19 PM. | |
