yeah i dig that tzi winch. real clean. i gotta say, that little 3racing winch kicked ass for what i put it through. it had enough guts on 3s to strip out the drum when i had it in a bind at the ttc. could be they just didnt have the grubscrew in the drum tight enough to begin with. im thinking two of the motor sides stitched together would be groovy. |

im gonna look at the damage to the wraith tomorrow and then rpp some stuff. ill get the winches then. i investigated timmy today. the steering servo pot somehow got wet, even with the seams sealed with liquid e-tape. serves me right for being lazy and not putting conformal on the boards and especially not putting dielectric grease around both ends of the pot. | |

interesting... the 7990 has a digital magnetic potentiometer doohickey. looks like it works kinda like a brushless does with a sensor. might be a hell of alot more water resistant compared to the mechanical style.

Yeah, I have to agree with saydee. I voted that rig best of show. Mike (1badjeepbruiser) was my neighbor. Super cool dude. |

He competed with one of his other C1 trucks. He brought a whole fleet of rigs to show off though.

Workin' on the baller rig again! Decided it was finally time to go to steel bumpers. I love how the plastic flexes out of the way and all but the rear bumper sags with the heavy spare tire and I almost pulled the front bumper off the other day with the winch, LOL. Besides, real bumpers don't flex out of the way. Also got some zero ackerman chubs and knuckles now that my stance is wide enough for them and I can move my axial aluminum chubs and knuckles to the dingo when I install the beef tubes I got from Hoopty. I also ordered some new ring and pinion gears for both the Rat and the JK. Those old gears are so rusted up they're not turning smooth. I decided to try the over/under setup too. That's something that I've still never tried...and everybody swears by it. I can move some old rusty HD's into the dingo now with my new gripfab spools. The dingo will soon be pretty solid with hand-me-down parts. |

We're all AMPED to make our rigs better than ever. NIRC is going to bring it hard at the next big event. Hopefully those that didn't make it will plan to make it next time so we can be in full force! I'm hoping to be in all classes next time around as well. ECSC has made us stronger! |

hoppty? tore down timmys 7950 steering servo, my 2 7950 spares, and the 7990 im going to use in the wraith. taped them up and shot 4-5 liberal coats on the boards. next step is to put them back together with some thermal paste on the motor/heatsink, and insulate the servo pot with dielectric grease. i think i might try a little bead of rtv along with the orings on all the servo sections, and after they are all put together ill go over the case seams and wire exit with liquid etape. also found a little bit thicker orings to replace the ones behind the servo spline output. and then hopefully... i wont have and ****ing glitchy servos for awhile. im interested in the magnetic potentiometer on the 7990, hopefully hitec gets that going on the normal sized servos. everything was conformal coated in my wraith, and left out in the open without any other waterproofing. not a single water issue, even after flogging the shit out of it while it was completely submerged. i feel its safe to say now that its pretty effective for waterproofing. too bad i cant quit my job and just waterproof stuff for a living. ;) |
