welp... these showed up today

edit: 12-14-16

I installed four of these on my SCX-10
replacing my plastic bodied Traxxas Ultra XL BB shocks (1st gen T-Maxx)

My tires now stuff upwards abouts 4mm more...
'cause the alloy XXL BB bodies are near 4mm shorter then the Ultra bodies.
I'll Likely need put a rubber limiter on the shaft
to reduce my body's rub and the shock(s) compression a lil' bit.
Or maybe just do a little body trimming /or shorter tires

BigBore ? the TRA 4862 XXL Alloy big bore shocks
have a smaller body diameter and hold less oil volume then do my Ultra XL BB's
Good news is Axial wraith coil springs fit these XXL's perfectly.

The Ultra XL BB shock bodies have a replaceable thread on shaft seal cartridge/cap.
Whereas the XXL's have a lower circlip holding the seals/Orings in place.
The Ultra's seal cap/cartridge was easier if need be... have held up fine for me.

The XXL BB's are silky smooth without doubt
The hard/teflon coated alloy bodies and nitride coated shafts
ensure the shaft's seal well in the Oring shim stack.
They really make for a higher quality precision/performing shock IMO.

I like my Utra XL BB's plenty and they've always worked fine and have never leaked/failed from my use.
But the alloy bodied XXL BB's really are nice if one is looking for an alloy bodied shock.
~ hoping I don't have to repack the Orings/shims anytime soon ~

The remaining four will be going on my 1:6 TJ

more Christmas'ing to muhself

Went with the single stage Deuces Wild
'cuz muh 1:6 scale TJ ain't especially lite.
And if the TSL inserts are too soft... my current Savox 1230 steering servo runs hot.

~ the coming 2290 might fix that concern... but no reason to stress it any more then need be ~

..... 2.2 .....

PL TSL SX/XL inserts - X4...

PL SX/std TSL's - X2...

incase any adjustment is needed...

shipped 12/12/16

Is this for the trailer, or for upgrading the Jeep and trailer? you probably mentioned it already, but I'm a tad lazy tonight to look, been working a lot of overtime plowing snow this weekend, (guard duty hours, 4-5 on, 4 off), all weekend, back at 3am tomorrow morning.

...yeah, for the new wheel/TSL tire combo's for both the TJ and trailer.

The taller inserts are for the XL's on the TJ
and the shorter inserts are for the std SX TSL's and the trailer.

Side rings are likely for the XL's
but won't be sure until I have the wheels in hand.

I'm thinking I'll have plenty of things to do once everything arrives.

All of it should be straightforward bolt on...
'cept maybe the trailer's axle/hub upgrades.

I still need to obtain four 4X11X4 bearings
and I guess some 4mm all - thread for the stub axles.
Maybe even some tube to fit over the all - thread.

But I'm still thinking about trailer axle alternatives
and where I'm going with that.

painted and installed the bed's upper shock mount covers...
good enough... 'cuz they're hardly seen anyways.

.....Today.....

Received the CI Deuces Wild single stage foam inserts...
but I'm still waiting on the wheels from China to arrive.

Also received the Locked Up RC floating SLW hubs
for my trailer's axle.
They fit my Axial idf wheels perfectly so...
they should equally fit the SLW wheels coming
tho' I can't be 100% certain until the alloy wheels arrive.

Guess I'll be putting off purchasing them 4-40 screws
and 11 mm bearings 'til I know for fact.

------------

Does anyone know off hand...
If the AMS plates are the same for both the Axial SCX-10 and Wraith ?
meaning: the plate mounting holes atop either axle is the same measured span ?

^ too lazy to pull the servo of my Wraith and SCX-10 to measure.

But will eventually check that when the 2290 arrives.

I purchased another alloy/CF servo mount like the one on my Wraith
to install on my SCX-10.
Because the original SCX-10 AMS mount moves too much.

And was just wondering if I would need make modifications to it ?

I like this particular design because it has two 3mm threaded holes in each upright
rather then just a single that others offerings have.

^ this mount atop the AR60 axles is rock solid...
So I hope to fit this atop my SCX-10 axles as well.

If not... I'll have to re-use the SCX-10's alloy plate and drill some new holes.

19 days after my purchase date fm Canada Pro...
but my 2290 servo has finally arrived

got the integy servo mount today as well

checked the hole post span on the SCX-10 axle
and it's the same as is the Wraith's hole span

Just waiting on that china delivery of my wheels
and my Christmas will then be Merry

-----------

Just a note regarding the integy servo mount.
I purchased this for my SCX-10 as my Wraith already has one.

Installed it this evening onto the SCX-10...
fairly straight forward install.
As I had done previously to my Wraith.

But... is isn't a perfect fit straight out the bag...

I had to use a drill bit (by hand) and counter sink the upper two holes,
centered on the CF plate, so the screw heads would fit flush to the plate's surface
and then clear the servo's underside.
I used two tapered 3mm machined screws.

Is now the most precise and solid servo mount
I've installed on both my SCX-10 and Wraith.
No flex... ain't coming loose.

I also used some blue locktite to ensure the screws threaded
into the uprights, thru the plate, stay put.

Generally, I wouldn't recommend integy products to folk...
But I will recommend this integy product to anyone owning a Wraith or SCX-10

Had the opportunity to install and run my new Savox SB-2290SG

It is defintely stronger and faster then the SA-1230SG
that was installed prior. (and the casing is shorter too)
I set my CC's BEC @ 7.4v

Worthy of my 12 lb 1:6 TJ Jeep
tho' kind've pricey to obtain.

Even better... was the fact that it only became just warm.
I was able to hold my hand on it for an extended period,
after a 10 minute run, without any discomfort.

The SA-1230SG on the other hand...
became excessively hot... and performance became degraded
after about 10 minutes into it's running.

The Savox SA-1230SG does well in my lighter SCX-10 tho'
so I'll suppose I now have a spare for that.

I'll put my temp gun to it the next time I run it.

--------------

Still waiting for my chinese alloy wheels to arrive...

But suppose I could work on installing those new Traxxas BB's
while I wait.

I think I've spent way too much coin on this project...

It performs purdy well and the electronics are top quality
for a brushed mtr set up.

Guess I like what it has become.

^ Lol ...OK

----------

Installed those Traxxas 4962 on my Wraith/Nylint

Had to use some longer lower shock ball ends
found in my Wraith kit. Tree # AX 80034

Also had to unthread the lower ball ends an 1/8"
to measure up to the Wraiths original shock length.

While TRA 4962 BB shocks are great on my SCX-10
they're only just adequate on my Wraith/Nylint.

Slightly shorter then the original Wraith shocks.
^ over-all and a 4mm shorter shock body length.
Had to installed bump restricters on the shock shafts
so they don't compress too much and rub the body.

I may need to drill some new holes lower on the shock towers
but I'm trying to avoid doing that.

For the Wraith/Nylint... I could use a slightly longer shock.
and larger diameter body.

But hopefully they won't leak as much as the originals do.
Silky smooth tho'

So you admit

That the original Traxxas Big Bores like

On both my First Generation Nitro T-Maxx and First Generation Nitro Stampede

Leak oil, even after rebuilt and a few times and rebuild by the a shop, they still leaked, thus was before I knew about the Slime trick, I have never had to use Slime yet

So again you admitted they leak

The Wraith Shocks with longer springs and/or longer rod end, you can adjust the length needed, I have built a few sets of Wraith shocks and have had very few leaks

Merry Christmas

You filthy animal

My multiply sets of Wraith shocks have never leaked

The aluminum bodied Wraith shocks, I bought from Integy that use the stock shock guts

Leaked and leaked and leaked, even with slime, built the stock shocks, right the first time

When I first got my Wraith, I learned quickly you get you get what you pay for

My Daisy and Crosman BB/pellet guns

Kicked Red Riders ass, and no I never shot my eye out

Red Ryder Model 1938 | Daisy Outdoor Products

Even tho' yer a numbskull...
it's too bad we don't live near each other...
So we could get together on Christmas Day

And I could also shoot you in yer arse

Your right about shooting me in the ass

After I break all your toys

We had 2 Daisy's and my older sister and I would shoot each other

Then my Dad bought me a Crosman Model 766 American Classic

Years later I bought a Crosman Model 760 Power Master and you could shoot both BB's or Pellets in both and it got old quick

Then a about a year later, I stepped up to .22 pistols and .22 rifles and every once in the while

My Dad would give me a 12 gauge and turn me loose to shoot it, I soon learned to respect the kick and to shoulder the gun tightly

After a while I loved it, and been shooting every now and then since

But I did ~ and it was a well placed shot I must say ~

Broke the skin on the poor poodle's shoulder and the BB became embedded

Needless to say that was a learning curve for me and was never repeated.

Good thing I didn't get my first .22LR until I was eight

My trailer getting new hubs (full floating/IDF-SLW) fitted.

Not gonna finish their install until my new wheels arrive...
and I know what offset those wheels have.

But thought I'd check the hub fitment out
just to see how close I might be.

After fitting the bearing'd hub onto the 10-24 all-thread...
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fits fairly well on the 4mm bearings.
And the hub turns easily and smoothly on the threaded shaft/secured by the nut.

So I'll only have to spend some time making hub(s) offset adjustment
