Super got put on the back burner for a bit as I started the WC Micro. There will be a thread started on it as soon as parts arrive. There are a few updates however. 1.) 1/4" drive universal joint front axles and knuckles: (In progress) 2.) Project Kong Smoke has been changed to project Crusher Smoke. Also, I think I vented an A123 cell on a full throttle assault. I may be going to 5 cell A123. More soon! WC |

| WaterProofing The Monster!
I been wanting to waterproof the Super now for a while. Today I found some Mud that was begging for the Swamp Kong's and I have been dying to point this insane machine at some... So this is what I came up with. *Everything is completely sealed below the intake and exhaust. (Hopefully I don't flip it) *Snorkel's are made from plastic braising rod tubes, a Mega Block, (like a huge lego) and toped off with film canisters. *Intake cools the Sidwinder and CC BEC, while an exhaust fan pulls the warm air from the MMM *A single Deans connector powers the entire truck. *A single switch energizes the CC BEC powering the AR6200 receiver and a relay out of an old computer that turns on both the MMM and the Sidewinder. Video of this system in use soon! WC Last edited by WheelChair; 09-23-2008 at 12:42 AM. |

| Snorkel Testing!
Tested out the snorkel today and it worked perfectly! Snorkel Testing- HIGH Quaity Mud was thicker then expected and not deep enough to have fun in 4x4. Mud Teaser- High Quality So I flooded it out and souped it up while we were there today and it should be ready for good times in the morning! Found out late last night after the run that my trim was off and the Monster was not getting full throttle. I worked with it and got about 30% more go out of it. Also, I believe I ran the A123's below their voltage threshold too many times and have a weak cell. I have a video of a full throttle climb where one of the cells on the front axle vented and actually shot out a flame like a torch!! WC Didn't see your post. Thanks! I have WAY too much fun with this thing!!! Video does no justice! Last edited by WheelChair; 09-24-2008 at 12:38 PM. Reason: final cleanup and editing |

| Stubshaft: 2", 1/4" Drive extension ground down to 5/16", shortened, drilled and taped for wheel bolt Axle shaft: 6", 1/4" Drive extension cut to length and drilled for cross pin Axle Joint: 1/4" Universal joint shortened length wise to be more compact Bearings: 29/64" OD 5/16" ID sealed Rollerblade Bearings Knuckle: 1" Plate 6061 T6 aluminum Having good luck with the 1/4" MIP hybrid axles I built called MaxxelShafts, in the MAXX section here. Wheel pins act as killer hub fuses, saving the rest of the drivetrain from extreme shock. The tooling axle might be saved for the 1/4 scale WC! Its Mighty. Can you say 15 HP eTek motor and 48 volts!!??? I'm not even close to done. WC Last edited by WheelChair; 09-24-2008 at 01:06 PM. Reason: More Info |

hey thanks for the detail on the 1/4" universals. do you have any pics of what you have running now. I'm going to need something big to steer the front of my rig soon and your idea looks about right for what I need. Thanks again |

Maxle Shafts I broke one because it was the first and I got a bad weld on it. but all the others have held fine. I actually granaded a MIP stub shaft with these. The main things I have noticed on the design of these is: 1.) Good weld on the cup to 1/4" (Hard to not melt the cup and get good pen.) 2.) Right size hole for cross pin (otherwise it will wallow out the mild steel 1/4" After that, the wheel pins hold up pretty well until you do something where there is so much load that something else should have broken. Then they act as a fuse, saving the rest of the drive train. A wheel pin is very easy to replace compared to a ring and pinion!! Since I have had these axles in my rig, I have been able to do some amazing things. Every time I needed the strength, it was there. Every time I got crazy, the pin saved my rig from more costly repairs. WC | |
