one of my fav pics of this truck and pics of the axle orientation. im currently having issues with the driveshaft being very short and the Y-link being less than satisfactory, so going to be doing something about that in the near future. i have to move house by the 21st of this month so probably not going to have much time for RC till then... |

ok, its been a while since i updated this thread. im buying a new Kulak in a week or two, and rebuilding what i had going. the build stopped because i made the front driveshaft too short and it kept popping out. this time round, i have a few ideas i wanna try, and ill be using the same Vee chassis plates i had. I think ill call it the RooVee coz it kinda looks like a kangaroo and its a Vee shape. haha watch this space. |

now its a crawler again. i bought a new one and rebuilt the Vee chassis with it. its not the same as it was, and im sorta unhappy with it as it is for that reason, but i couldnt make it as it was, because before, the front driveshaft had to be too short and kept popping out. heres some pics. ill have to get some running on it to iron out the bugs. i think its too stiff at the moment... stock out of the box (nothing stays that way for long around me...) flex maxxed out... too much.. but now.. not enough. sitting pretty has a bit more room compared to before... so for now, i think its a bit stiff. i need some more underbelly clearance, so i think a soft spring in the front and a semi droop rear will be the ticket. (its currently full droop in the rear, with some stiff springs.) and im getting some HR alloy bits for the front end soon. Chubs, knuckles, and a servo mount for a full size servo. the stock 1.7kg servo SUCKS!! anywho, ill post updates as they come. thanks for looking |

i made a few minor geometry adjustments last night, im yet to see how its affected the rig. i havent triangulated the front links enough and im getting a small amount of side to side movement.. i think ill look at getting a comp skid maybe... current RTR weight is 898g. 1 pound 15.5ounces for the US crew. ( ill post a picture later on the scales) thats quite light isnt it?? |

wasnt happy with the side to side flex i was getting so i rearranged the front links a little. the result is a much more rigid and centralised front diff. Also semi drooped the front springs as they were too stiff and had the side effect of lowering the front end some. heres pix. nice n compact on a shelf under the servo approx 8.3-8.4 inch wheelbase, and just under 8inch width. it hops around like a little frog when turning on a high traction surface like carpet.... |

got its first outdoor run on it and im not happy. balance is all over the place. too high, too far back, and not flexxy enough. and then i stripped out the screws that hold the servo plate to the top of the links and into the axle... so i pulled it down. and it has been sitting in bits on my computer room floor for the past couple weeks. ive had an old 1/18 hilux shell from an old micro build hanging out on my shelf for ages, staring at me. was all like, Cmon man, put me on something!! so after chats with friends, and a ton pf procrastination, i finally commited. heres pics. how it looked in a past life> then the vision went from this> to this> but that doesnt exactly work with the chassis i had for it. so new chassis. called in some brass... and proceeded to dove both ends. but i must have been blind as for some reason i didnt make sure the cuts were even before i joined it all back together again... derp.. and continuation of the chassis. and thats how it sits at the moment. |

my next choice has left me at tires. i have purchased some Losi Mini-T rims that are 1.5 inch diameter. they fit much better with the body. so i think im going to have to reduce some rovers to suit. has anybody ever gone less than 1.9 when reducing rovers? |

So ive seen the MRC come back to the spotlight. so i decided to continue my little gem. going to build it to fit comp spec, but slightly different to everyone elses. pics of chassis progress. ive also noticed it seems fairly easy to run XRmod steering with a set of XR axle halves. am i better off with XR cases, or AR cases as a starting point? |

There are both pros and cons with both, but hold your horse cause good parts are on the way!

Hey, i was wondering, how did you bend your upper front links ? Did you heat them up before ? Because i have the same and when i tried to bend it, it cracked... Also, are you still on your first motor / transmission ?? I destroyed my kulak tranny months ago while running a Losi RX280 on 2s LiPo geared 20t pinion and 60t spur I like your metal cage alot, can't wait to see it finished ! |

Thanks bud. Ill get back to this in a couple weeks. Got so much on my plate at the moment. This is my second trans but only coz I wanted new parts in this rig. I kept stock motor on the first trans so no issues there. |

Cool ! What about the front bent links then, did you heat them first or just bent them ?? I tried one of mine and it cracked... (have the same as yours, orange kulak links) |

sorry bud, been busy at work. i cracked a couple too. just gotta bend them where the thread isnt. they seem fairly tough but brittle when you bend on the machine work.
