Thanks upstateny Ill check it out. I will be starting up on this by friday. Im still debating on going brass or plain steel? I think the brass will be alot easier than the steel but with steel I could just mig weld the entire body...I dont know maybe ill doa little of both??/

Went to start on this but I couldnt stand the mess... And after.. Now thats all better!!! So I started by disassembling a hilux chassis for the springs and a few mounts And the steering will be used as well Then I finally decided on the length, I cut the frame rails to 24 inches and I will be adding a section to the front for a winch later on for a total of 26 inch long frame. Heres a shot of the new rails next to a hilux frame. Im thinking the frame is to thick on the top so I might cu tit down by a 1/4 inch or so |

Heres the lates, I built the start of the walking beam out of styrene for mock up purposes. I will later make it from brass . I made them to sitt under the frame rails a bit like the 5 ton. |

Yea that is pretty cool! Well my hats off to all you guy out their that braze!! Damn this brazing stuff is time consuming to say the least. And holding all the pieces together wile brazing is a big part of the challenge... I have managed to get the mounts for the springs built, well except for a few small details.. I think im going to only use the main leaf from the hilux and make the rest from styrene so I can get a nice thick leaf pack.. Not sure if they will return like I want but theirs only one way to find out... | |

Looks awesome! The one thing with brazing brass is that it aint magnetic, with steel you can use magnets to hold the peices in place, witch makes it alot easyer! |

Nice work man. You should pick up a "Helping-Hands" tool from X-Acto to help you hold the parts for brazing. |
