Default rcjeepbuilders military build

I have been wanting to build a military rig forever and I have been fortunate enough to get a set of blackwell axles from RC4WD. I have seen quite a few deuce and a halfs being built but I have never seen a 4 door build from sheet metal so I thought I would give it a go! This is the rig I will be replicating as close to scale as I can make it.

I will be painting it a little different than the pic but otherwise it will be just like it. I will be painting the axles ,frame and the body OD green and adding as much detail as I can.
Heres a moc up of the parts I have so far. I will be ordering another axle and another punisher shaft as well as the RC4WD axle mounts for these axles. And these mud pluggers are awesome!

This is going to be an awesome build!! I cant wait to see this rig take shape, I really like the fact that you are using Blackewell axles under it.

I have not seen where they added a second cab like that. At least non I ever rode or drove.
Deuces and 5tons were fun. Especially on narrow foreign roads in city traffic!!

the hood is too short and there is no air cleaner on the drivers fender. also if you zoom in the wheels are 6 lug.
it is a deuce, not a 5 ton, although it looks like it has been super singled with the goodyear 395's. the michlein XL's would look identical to the mud pluggers
It may have also been stretched to fit the double cab, either that or the bobbed a section out of the cargo bed.

I'll get some measurements for you and we'll see if it looks like the photo lines up.

Yea building from this pic is going to work to my advantage , I will not have to get to technical! I just want things like the suspnsion , frame bed and cab construction to be close to the real deal. Isnt their some kind of deuce that is a 9-- Something ???Maybe thats what this is based off of??

OK, I didn't get home from work till it was dark, but here are the numbers I pulled off the dsh plaque.

overall length without winch 263, add about 18" for front winch.
distance from front bumper to front axle 38" add 18" for frpnt winch
distance between front axle and inner axle 130"
distance between inner axle and rear axle 48"
frame width at front axle 58" at rear axles, 47"
track width at front axle 79" at rear axle 93"

I'll try and get some cab measurements and suspension pics for you tomorrow in the day light.

The Beast ! <------- check this out.

none the less this will be a fun build to watch.
any concern af dragging around a non driven axle and possibly low getting centered ?
is that 1:1 6X6 ?

Here is a PDF of the transport manual, as in "here is how to ship a deuce to korea" which has some useful measurements in it
page 2-8 starts them

http://old.steelsoldiers.com/index.p...id=file&pid=69

here are some measurements I took this morning before work

let me know what else you need.

I'll get some suspension shots up later.
