Gears are lubed and so far so good. Going for a run with my son tomorrow for a real test.

Thanks Martin. I have too much stacked against me to make it out to G6 this weekend.

Didn't get any other pics but the rig did great. The 1300mah 3s lasted for about 40min under standard G6 style driving using the stereo too. With my 5 batteries I should be able to run just about 3 hours straight. Final weight tips the scale at 11.5 pounds. As for the running gear, no problems there!!!! The 35t Tekin handwound with a 12 tooth pinion in the GR7 was warm but not too hot, plus the last 125 yards to the car was ran full throttle with a fresh battery(wanted to see how hot it would get). Crawling control and resolution was better than expected on the rocks, and the top end speed was faster than I expected too. The Dinky GR7 and split skid are an awesome combo that I recommend if you want the interior space. I climbed lines with little effort that take me a few attempts with either of my other rigs. The real challenge is the overall length. I can make most turns but I find its easy to slip down onto a rock jamming between the front and middle axles, having so much metal work you can hang up pretty easy if not paying attention. However the rear quad steer really helps free the rig when jammed up. I very happy with how it turned out, too bad being such a clean nice rig won't last long. I didn't build it to look at it, I built it to drive it!!!!!

After a few flops onto the roof I realized how important a cage is going to be. I needed to spread out the 11.5 pounds to more than just the small cab especially when it takes its first tumble. This is what I came up with, simple clean and mounts into the bed which can be removed from the rig for maintenance.

Took the rig out to the G6 yesterday and finished the day under a solid pace. Everything worked properly and smooth and I can only see a few small changes that I might make. In glad I opened up the grill to get some airflow under the body and help cool the BRXL and 35t when running for hours on end. The motor was barely warm by the end but the BRXL was toasty. I love driving this thing!!!!!

I wonder why that brxl is getting hot, 3s batteries, and a 35t motor shouldn't even make heat! I think you have a bad esc. Cause my mmp (same amp rating) with a 27t and 3s was not even warm. The motor was but thats it.

John said its probably a bad inductor on the internal BEC. I just figure run it till it says it had enough.

Had to add some lights. I will run 2 sets. One chassis mounted and one cab mounted so its removable by a JST connector. I used the kit from The Chop Shop (Hoosierdady) and they work great. I like that you can cut them free and wire directly to a power source!!!

I was putting things away and realized that I had also installed the rear heyok winch controller for the 645mg free spool rear winch I am working on. Didnt want to have to rip it all apart again when I get the winch finished up. But damn there are a ton of electronics on this rig! Getting hard to deal with all the wires and keeping them hidden and secure.

BRXL
Tekin 35T Handwound
Hitec 5685MH steering servo
Hitec 5685MH steering servo
Hitec 5685MH steering servo
BEC Pro
Traxxas RX
Heyok winch controller
Heyok winch controller
Heyok custom rear quadsteer controller
RC4WD winch
10 LEDs(8 under and 2 tail)
Ipod stereo

All thats left is the 645 winch and the 4 more LEDs for the cab headlights and marker lights.

The rig took a 20ft+ cliff dive today. Have the top half of the fall on video. That will come soon. What I thought was going to be a total loss was not much more than some bent bumper mounts, bent bedside, one cage joint cracked off and some body cracks. What pisses me off is on the way back to the car under its own power and still wheeling away, I shred another pinion. It was just after a full throttle bump up over a ledge. I need a solution to fix or replace the GR7.
