Hi,

I like this build a lot!

Here is a picture of a Trial Truck with the very simple backend I told you ;)

Cheers

Exclamation Re: Hardbody TJ 6x6 Propane Style

As promised, a video of the 6x6 in action. Also includes the epic 20ft fall. I was blown away at how no chassis or drivetrain damage happened. Just a crack on a fender/hood and a snapped cage joint.

Since the tumble broke a brazed joint I decided to add some extra bracing.

Also trying to salvage this GR7. Added another bearing trying to eliminate the slop of the internal bearings. Either it works or gets me 4 hours of trail time. Hope it works.

It's too bad I have to miss this weekends G6. My rig is all back together and asking for a day on the trails.

This is the crack in the body from the tumble. I have a new body for a spare on the way.

Having a spare body will let me run this one all out. Plus I might try to flat fender this one.

I was looking at the high line fenders that were built by ser3100 on Another Jeep Build( Another Jeep build..this time a TJ ) They look great and I like they are hand bent and brazed, just like most of the work on this rig. Here is his work.

I'm going to cut the broken and cracked fender flares and give a go at this style. I think a JK rampage bumper would look good with this fender style.

I decided not to use metal for the fenders since I had a ton of styrene around. Here is where I am at. I sandwiched the original fender and extended it between two pieces of styrene. Braced the back of the body panel and added an angle piece to add support.

I still need to cut them to shape and add some styrene tube to finish them out. I also like how it has made the front of the body more rigid.

While I was messing with the fenders I thought I should put some LEDs in the headlights. I took the lenses out and cut the locking tabs off. I glued the lenses to a set of RPM light buckets. I then glued the whole assembly into the grill. I grabbed power from the stereo in the dash.

Fenders are complete. Not bad for my first attempt at flat fenders.

When I had started this I wanted a unique Jeep truck of some sort. But through the build I kind of lost the vision as I tried to get to a running rig. It ended up being very Jeep Wrangler like when all was said and done. I made a few changes to my cage design to bring out the Brute cab look which is what i wanted. I hope to do some brazing and finish up the cage tomorrow. Here is what I have so far.

Brazed up the pieces I had bent. All the mounts are the same as the existing cage so I can swap the cages and change the look of the rig real easy.

I was going to add more pieces to the cage but I like the clean simple look it has going on!

It always seems that at some point during a G6 or RCOTC the ability to suck down the front suspension would be helpful. Here is my solution. Use a shock end link that fits into the front countersunk hole.

Throw your screw in from the rear of the case and your set.

I have full steering both directions with no interference when fully sucked down!
