The rig looks like it works well with the R2 trans. I'm curious if you have thought aboot using softer springs on the rear axles to allow them to flex easier over the twisty terrain?

Only reason I haven't tired softer springs as the rear tires can get into the fenders of the cage pretty quick. Cage design flaw on my part.

Hey Szczerba, with only slight modification to the cross trans mount, it is possible to fit a tamiya cr01 transmission into the 6x6 chassis .

Nice. I have no experience with that transmission but it looks similar to the Cross trans or vise versa.

I would almost say that cross copied the tamiya trans, I'm not saying the parts are interchangeable but they sure are close as they both have planetary gears inside them.

Szczerba, obviously you sold it but do you think it was worth the money and work? They seem really noisy but I would love the MC8.

Traded it for a 1.9 jeep but yes. The only downfalls are the front crosspin plate in the trans and the lack of some bearings in the axle housings. They sell an upgrade trans crosspin plate I didnt know about and there are 3d printed replacement axle housings on shapeways that add bearings.

The kit is well thought out, easy to assemble and had nice scale bits and pieces. With the firmer springs the truck drove scale and really impressed me more than once. Some of weak areas are shown and described throughout this thread.

Do you have a link to the axle housings and crosspin plate?

Fantastic 6x6 you have there!
I am patiently awaiting my 8x8's arrival.. One thing I am curious of, do you think the plastic part that rounded out in the trans would last longer with attention straight out of the box?

Ive an unbuilt tamiya globeliner chassis ( friend purchased the kit, he kept the body set and i bought the remainder). Planning to try the 3 speed in the 8x8 along with a transfer box.

That plastic trans part wont last 5 minutes, other than flat land driving. Buy the upgraded AL piece. Check out the first of the thread for the other upgrade parts I bought when purchased.

I just wished I would had seen the AL trans part before I got the truck too. When taking the trans apart, just note what goes where, it was a little tricky but nothing too bad.

Love the under house inspection video, good way to justify spending money on toys... I mean tools.

So how you liking the tires? They are way better looking on a rig than in the ad pics.
