What is the width of those MC6 bodies? I picked up a Tonka firetruck toy the other day I want to make a 6x6 out of but I'm thinking it will be too narrow..

Back on post 112. About 8" wide at the body widest point.

Shane, this build is very sick. the way you make it all come together smoothly is just sweet.

how many hours do you have in this build with all the planning and building? 50?

Thanks. I try to post as I go, even if no one comments. I feel it's my job to show how the kit goes together and then how I changed it up. It took about a month total of time. I would say more than 50 hours. I know two weekends I spent both days at least 6-8 hours each day building.

Default Szczerba's MC6 6x6

Two issues solved tonight.

Driveshaft and trans

Wraith Uni's, Gmade shaft, hastly welded but it works, for now.
Saw Sam63 do this awhile back and it gave me the idea for this shorty steep angle driveshaft need.

Second issue. The trans main shaft has no way of controlling back and forth movement in the trans. This caused a cross pin to strip out a plastic engagment area up towards the front of the planetary box. So, washer on backside of shaft snugged up against the driveshaft will keep it from stripping. I forgot to take pics of the stripped part but I was able to fix it with new grooves.

Stripped a plastic pin engagement area in the transmission just easing around at the Recon G6 this weekend. Guess Ill have to fit an ax10 trans in somewhere, sometime.

Did manage to snap a picture with Shaun Rice's 6x6.

$0.00005 piece of plastic f's up the whole trans. No replacement part either.
Its on the left end of the through shaft inside the bearing.
It's a press fit POS style of planetary drive thing. See last pic.

R2 from RC4WD seems like it will work. I'll need to figure out a mount for it but I believe I can handle that.

This. Will burn in mount to steel chassis supports that fit inside the C-Channel frame.

Look I know I'm a noob on this forum, but shouldn't this be in the 1:1 section? I'm gonna need like a banana or something to prove this is 1:12.

Nice work. The R2 will hold up. Those are great basic transmissions.

Shot it full of lithium grease. It's almost the same ratio setup as the stock MC6 trans was. No gearing changes needed, even using the included R2 pinion. Now, wait for the axles to blow up so TLTs can be swapped out.

hello, very good job,

you do not think that a two-speed gearbox could be an optimal solution, such as the Vaterra Twin Hammers gear box?

The R2 trans ending up being really really close to the same ratio as the stock transmission. I could do a two speed trans but I wanted to go with something bullet proof right now so I could actually drive it. I can easily have a new motor pinion swapped out in 15 minutes to gear up the truck.

A bunch if iPhone videos mashed together.

Wife was driving in the wooded/leafy sections at the first part of the video.

1080p it, no music.
