Hopefully the puller 400s will come back soon. Another popular choice is holmes crawlmaster pro 13t.

Or this custom motor from holmes: "This is a set of motors for a team driver that wanted smooth low end, but big drag brake, torque, and high wheelspeed. * We opted for a set of Team Flow motors, built as customs in all black with upgraded magnets. * FB12 magnets, 30t high fill wire, 10mm comm, XX springs, silver brushes, and alloy hardware rounded out the build."

Yea I'm leaning toward Holmes or Broode right now but I've got to save some money for now because if I'm going to buy motors I want to go ahead and get a good set that will preform and lasts. Thanks for the info!

Nice build thread! Keep it going and let us know how it's driving when you get to take it out.

Dont spend more than $250 on motors. From brood or holmes until you know exactly what you want. I spent $400 plus on a set of motors that are just too crazy, and i thought I knew what I wanted. Those team flows with the 30ts are fantastic motors.

I run HH 540 16t crawl masters in my berg. It's a great motor the puller 400's and 500's are out of my budget..

Yea my budget isn't big enough to spend 250+ right now, really if I could find a decent used set that I could rebuild I'd be happy bc like you said I'd like to drive it a little more so I can decide what I want/need for my driving style. On my first xr I had the 35t hand wound tekin motors and they did ok for what I had in them, my second xr (that I wish I still had) I had a one of broods cheaper motors on it in a 20t and I liked them a lot, they had plenty of power for me, wasn't enough to jump a gap or anything but they were very smooth and strong and my batteries lasted a longer with them

I spent some time narrowing my set of voodoos some more, I like them a lot better this width, they almost match the bully comp tires now, just a tad bit wider but that's fine, they work great! I got new CI comp cut foams from my voodoos and put my old CI foams from the voodoos in the bully tires and they seem to work a lot better now that they have some good broke in foams in them!

Also spent a little time messing with some thick lexan I had laying around and cut out some wheel faces for the rear, they seem pretty solid and light and I just thought it looked better than the stock bully wheel faces.

But seriously. The 16t 5segment arms are fantastic for crawling. And it doesnt get much cheaper than the HH crawl masters pro. The $$ I spent on pricy motors is currently being wasted because they are sitting in a drawer.

You could always donate those Motors to the Tapped-Out Foundation for a tax write-off.

Added some flex sleeve to the wire and some shrink wrap to make it keep the wire bent up and out of the way, next it's time to mount it up!!

This servo sticks out like a sore thumb next to the axle and motor, almost too nice to put on here and scratch up...almost

I love this Dravatech mount, the servo is just even with the axle so it's not hanging down and catching on stuff. Also modified my lexan from the 150T and made it fit tight up to the axle so the 170T is protected and it's a smooth transition from the axle to the servo, hopefully that will help it slide across obstacles.

May I suggest some 5 hour energy bottles for motor guards, check out my Bully thread for info.

Hey Travis C I have actually been through your build thread a few times but I forgot all about that neat trick, thanks! These are just the cheap rc4wd motors that came with the kit so I wasn't really worried about them, but when I get some better motors to go in there I'll definitely have a guard on them! Hopefully I can find some decent used motors from someone on here, these rc4wd motors don't have enough power.

Add 4 small spacers between servo and servo mount to lift up the servo (where your blue aluminum screws are). Just enough so it doesn't sick below axle tube..
