With a stick radio do most of you guys drive your super like it's 2 trucks with one axles throttle and steering on each stick? Or do you do some kind of mixing setup?

It takes more time and thought to sit and flip switches than to just drive the truck with the front on one stick and the rear on the other stick IMHO.

For dig I guess you're just using the drag brake to hold an axle in place?

I'm at home and my connection sucks, so no pictures yet. But i got my axles and i measured the stock steering anlges... out of the package: -the steering locks out at 32* due to the fact that the knuckle hits the axle tube and the cvd hits the inside of the C. I grabbed the dremel and went to TOWN on the knuckles and the C sections of the Super Bullies. I found that after some minor dremeling the knuckle totally frees up and can turn more than would ever be needed. I took the CVD out to see what it was capable of and it locks out at about 39-40 degrees...so that what i shot for. I hogged out the inside of the axle C because the cvd was hitting the inside of the C causing it to stop at about 34-35 degrees. It took some work, but I did get it to turn to the full potential of the cvd...39-40 degrees. The cvd could be modified to gain even more...but i don't think it's really necessary. 39-40 is waaaay more than i was ever getting with my clod and I seem to do OK with that. I'll add pics to this thread tomorrow... |

These supers look pretty fun to drive. I love how much control the driver has over the rig. Very cool stuff..

I run a 4.5 wheel now but want a shorter overall tire diameter but with the same sidewall heights that the Panther gives when used with the 4.5 so I will just have to start playing with wheel diameter to see what all heights are obtainable.

very nice work clearencing those axles, what do you think you got them to 40-45 degrees? is that the max the cvd's can handle or can you push it more?

I maxed out the cvd's @ a tick under 40 degrees. The cvd's could be modified to get ALOT more steering, but I'm not gonna get into that as I don't think the width of the axles and the link position will allow much more than 40 degrees. You could recess the inner axle shaft just before the joint and gain alot more, however, then you going to start taking away from the strength of the shaft. |

Nice work with the Dremil. I would have a hard time cutting up some new shinny parts . It looks like there is still plenty of material there to keep up the druability.

Thanks for the detailed pics and info TURBOFEST. I think after seeing how much the Bully's can be improved, even though it's not quite up to berg steering, they are definitely the best all around package. I think 40 degrees of steering is about the minimum I would be looking for in an axle, anything more than that would be a nice bonus, but honestly most 4 linked setups wouldn't be able to take advantage of any more steering anyways without everything getting in the way. |
