Which is awesome.

Not everyone has the extra dough for that set up.

This set up is under $20.00 (under $10.00 in you have a servo sitting around) bucks and works great!

I have been using a switch on my 2.2 this past season without any problems. It was originally set up with a stick in the spokes of the wheel, but that was messing up the wheel too much. The switch alone works just fine on 7 cells or more, 6 cells seemed too week to break traction on high traction surfaces.
The switch I use is from radioshack and costs $2.69. I couldn't find the exact one on the website, but this looks just like it:

Well I have found the Front Digs are more helpfull for Climbing ledges and dropping of them then turning tight. So if you don't have dig's. Then you don't have Crap... J/K..... The first ledge in the Video that I used the D.U.D....It locked the rear up and allowed Leeroy to swing off that rear pass. tire right into place with ease. On the last part of the video. It allowed me to slid over and get into position. I have no clue how it leaped over that last gap. It's hard to see in the video but that gap is around 8in wide. You can see Leeroy falls into it and just pulls right out. This Video shows the float in action thou out the whole video. Float vs. Flex...I pick Float any day......:p

I would think having the switch like that would drain your battery real fast since the servo has to be pressing on the switch to keep sending it power.

either way voltage is running through the switch. shrek has a momentary off which is perfectly fine to use, just more of a preference on the switch than anything.

this mod is definately going on my 2.2 build.

I have used dig on a 2.2 stick clod all last season and I did it a little differently. I just had a small micro servo that was ziptied to the rear motor that pulled the brush out of the motor. My only gripe was that the rear motor would ocasionally coast and not do the whole DIG thing. But when it came to breaking over huge ledges... it worked awesome. But the diging around sharp corners only worked sometimes. Now I am almost done with my super clod stick and I will be running dual outrunners with mamba esc's and a DX6 so I can have dig and rear steer. The mambas will have the drag brake and that will be kick a$$!!!

Can't you just index the servo arm so it closes the switch at rest?

Ya it's a Refrigerator Switch for the light inside. Ace Hardware or an Appliance store.

If you do some investigating with a volt meter I think you will find that using the other pole on the switch you have there will make it normally closed.

I don't think using the other pole will do anything. Using the switch he is talking about. It has to be pressed down and making contact with a metal plate to have the current travel through. The when let off the current is losed b/c there is no contact....

I know what you are thinking, but that is the same switch I am using. With a continuity test it can be used as either normally open or normally closed.

I got an add to this idea...

I run front or rear dig with a 2.2 clod and a TQ 3 radio. All you need to do is put a second switch on the other side of the servo

I assume you have a modded TQ3 or you'd have front or rear wheel drive and no four wheel drive. I have been thinking about doing it myself but there is enough crap on my 2.2!

It has just front wheel drive, just rear wheel drive, and four wheel drive. And ya, modded TQ3. It is interesting when you do a rear burn then a front burn, you can make the truck do some odd things
