Is there any weight diffarance between the two? I'd think the plastic would be lighter.

The AL gears are way heavier. Mine had all of the AL gears and dig plate when i bought it and i changed it to the stock plastic stuff. The plastic is quieter and smoother IMO

Few updates

I got some losi alloy mini nuts to replace the steel one and drop weight (Im waiting on titanium screws but my order was lost in mail )

I also made some delrin balls for the inverted front shocks, it drops weight but will reduce wear on the shock body from the steel balls

A bit of wear in the dig

Got some alloy outdrives to try...
Steel

Alloy

This is the stock gearbox...

And this is where mine stands now, this one has all the losi alloy upgrades, you can see i grinded the motor clamp down too, has a couple of alloy nuts & screws too, weight will drop even more when the titanium screws turn up

Oh guess what.. rear steer gone.. it drives so good that there is VERY little need for it

Yeah ive got the full weights in the front + extra.. rim/tyre/weight=480g
In the rear i drilled the weights to drop weight.. rim/tyre/weight=360g
I also have another rear pair i run with no weight, i run these most of the time in my current setup

My nuts still came loose occasionaly even after machining.. i grabed some Traxxas nuts that are 4mm steel flanged, serrated & nylon locking too, they put an end to my loose nuts part number #3647

Ive got a new body for it now, just painted, pics soon

Im running full droop in front, semi in the rear (spring top & bottom of piston)
Personally i think is a great setup for the losi, it lets you keep a low COG + when it droops it can tackle big break overs it couldnt do with a spring setup

Thats half the wieght! All up i'll save a few grams, not much but with everything ive been doing to drop weight its all adding up
I'll weigh the rig soon with out the wheels and see what it comes in at

The guys at cANZ got some vid of it crawling here http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...90#post2560590 (sportsman1 & pro1) it performed quite well i think, i got 2nd place in sportsman

Very cool thread!

Curious, do you have a weight of the rig with no tires/wheels/body? Just like you have in the above pic.
