| Not without some modification to the knuckle, weight or both. It looks fairly close though... Another cool thing about the weights is that it will sigficiantly strentghen the knuckle and some of the steering since it no longer has any room for flex. |

Since rotational weight SUCKS (major cause of DT failure), I'm in (the golden rule of DT engineering is to REDUCE roational weight...but since it looks "cool" on crawlers, this new technology has been slow to develope...Eric, keep up the good work) |

I was waiting until I had the brass flat bar and could make some plates. The brass plates turned out like crap so I scraped that whole idea. I am now running lead weights just like the picture but I drilled them and bolted them on. They still do not look great but at least I can feel better about them looking like crap when the are free and disposable. I will work on a more permanent answer but in the mean time I am just going to cut the weights as I have them now. You would have to pry these weights out of my dead cold hands. You guys are going to love them.

These look great. I have been watching this thread unfold and can't wait to obtain a set. In post 6 you were estimating 50$ retail but it sounds like now with using traditional auto weights for tuning the machine time should be less. Is this going to hopefully save on some cost? |

I could easily make some 1.5" I.D. tube that bolts on to the bottom of these. The problem is that round bar or tube of that size is extremely expensive. Just materials would be in the ball park of $30 extra, not including the machine time. I think the added weights on the bottom would take these from $50 ballpark priced to $100 ball park priced.

Brass is an expensive material to work with. Tubing especially, is very expensive, I bet it would double the price. I have built some custom paintball guns w/ brass tubing and that stuff is not cheap at all. The stick on weights are a good idea, just spray paint them gold so they blend in |

This may be a little early? Are you willing to sell extra .5oz plates?

Just curious but have you thought about using heavier metals? A local guy around here owns his own shop and made 3 different sets of bullets for his XR that go from Light to Heavy. Just thinking if you made the main piece from that then the brass add ons or if prices would go up from machine time/material cost. Also thinking of those guys who run heavy wheels that dont have much space between the hex and wheel inside. |

| Tungsten http://pinecar.woodlandscenics.com/s...ungstenWeights http://www.tungsten.com/index.html I know it would add cost, but I was fine spending $82.00 for the worms after reading the feedback about them. Last edited by corkysk8; 11-19-2010 at 10:00 PM. Reason: added links. |

Best price I could find was $50 per INCH. Material cost on these would be $100 at that rate. Only other thing I found of interest was some guy trying to cut what looked like a .125 rod with a cut off blade on an angle griner. Looked like it took 15 min to get through it.

Also wanted to add that these will be shipping as of Tuesday. I had a somewhat small batch made as I did not realize that much more than half of the material would be waste. So, first come first serve on the first batch but a second batch should not be too far behind. |
