| Re: My Hyrax Review I ran the stock foams in my KO2's and I was really impressed with them. They, as well as the Hyrax, come with open cell foams that fit the tires very well, no more memory foams. I almost regret not giving the stock foams in the Hyrax a shot before ordering the two stage foams. Having said that, my two stage foams came in today and they are damn nice.

I didn't give the proline foams a chance either but wish I did. Still might though. I ran the 4.75 firm lil novas. They did nice but are pretty firm. Here soon I will swap them out with 4.5 mediums and see what I think. These tires hook up though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is the greatness of CI foams, you can mix and match just about anything with the 3 size inners and 3 different outers. Never tried the tuning rings but they also add possibilities. I wish for a slightly firmer soft option though.

The 4.5 mediums are much softer than the 4.75 firms. The 4.75 firms did pretty good imo. I almost wanna run the 4.5 with firms. It I'll try the 4.5 mediums 1st. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I got me some 1.9 Hyrax tires. I also pre-ordered the 2.2 flavor.

So I put the 4.75 firms in with the 4.5 closed cells and thought it was too stiff still (just judging by feel) so I went with the 4.5 mediums on all 4. I don't know if the firms that come with the 4.75 are any different in height than the firm that come on the 4.5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The 4.5 medium lil novas definitely make the Hyrax come to life. These tires are very impressive. Now to put he same foams in my voodoos and see what I like better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I got mine on Friday. They are sticky. Has any body mounted them on the wide vanquish 1.9 method wheels. Why I'm asking is that I'm having trouble with the front foams shifting. Ive got weights in my wheels. I don't want to replace parts after purchase. I. E. Buy stuff twice? I don't have the vanquish wheels yet. Thanks.

I picked up a few of these, they make great all around trail tires for up here in the far NE. They don't load up and they grip rocks quite well. I have the new rock beast xls on my 4 wheel rig and they are unmatched on the rocks, but are not quite as good an all around trail tire as the hyrax. |

The weather turned and its been 30 and lower here so I haven't had a chance to run the voodoos yet with the lil nova 4.5" mediums that I installed in them. The Hyrax with the lil novas are much better than the voodoos with double deuces though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well after all the controversy everyone chimed in on when I posted the OP last year, I think my initial success with the tires has proven to be consistent and almost universal. Almost every top driver in our local club has switched to Hyrax. Two of us first adopters have won quite a bit of money running them in local cash comps over the winter. My original set is on my comp truck ready for the 2017 season. We've also had several people cutting and shutting the 1.9 onto 2.2 sidewalls to get a narrower and slightly shorter 2.2 version. On top of the others buying the 2.2 tire. For where we are in Minnesota, there is not a better 1.9 tire. Including KLR and PB XL. From my personal testing, the PB XL works awesome on a heavier rig with the PB foams, but not on lighter comp specific rigs. On top of this, I've watched countless comp videos from other states on youtube of people using Hyrax in their class 2 rigs and pulling some dang amazing lines. |

I picked up a set of 2.2 hyrax a few weeks ago. 6" dual stage CI, soft front, medium rear on a 5.4 lb sporty. Maybe they'll improve when they get trashed a bit but so far I'll give them a solid meh. I got shiny new part syndrome the first time I ran them when I pulled 5 lines I hadn't been able to make before. Then I put my old trusty jconcepts rupture/Scorpio combo back on and did the same lines. Then it dawned on me that I'd changed the suspension when the tires were off... They'll either end up on my beater or in the classifieds one of these days. |
