| Re: Hobby Machinists Challenge #1 That's what I thought! And that is why I voted for #4. To be able to line up 96 holes AND use them to hollow out the middle of that cube....simply amazing!

Challenge 1 winner is crawlerhawk. Congratulations. Please take a few and post up the info and additional pics on your creation. And since there were so few entries, everyone else can do the same if they wish. |

Cool! If I had more time and spent more than 10 mins on my mill I would enter. I need some beginner projects.

Nice job crawlerhawk, you had my vote Looks like you have a G0704. I'm in the home stretch of converting one to CNC. How do you like it? I turned mine on for like 10 seconds almost a year ago to confirm it wasn't DOA. I pussed out and didn't swing for the Glacern though Last edited by rob_b; 02-19-2013 at 11:58 AM. |

Right on. Pressing in the new spindle/quill bearings is tomorrows project! IIRC the largest bearing I bought is rated at 7000 rpm, but I'll probably keep it limited to 6000-6500.

Can't wait for challenge #2. One question though, have you thought of doing a lathe challenge? Quote:

| Re: Hobby Machinists Challenge #1 I have, but I would refer to Bob when the "lathe only" time came. I do not own one nor have any experience on one. I wouldn't know what a sufficient challenge would be in that respect...
