I'm surprised #1 didn't get more votes...I thought for sure it would it would have killed. The owner needs to throw down some FYI for us...

I am the owner of #1.

The 1" cube was made out of 6061. I squared it on a Bridgeport manual machine using a 1/2" flat endmill. I hand wrote the g-code for all six shapes (heart, club, spade, diamond, circle, triangle). I cut the shapes on a haas tm-1 using a 1/8" flat endmill. Once all the shapes are cut the inside separates from the outside.

And the points got bent/smashed because my kids were throwing it around the living room.

As soon as I can figure out exactly what it will be. Bob had a great suggestion and I'm probably going to roll with it. I can tell you that it will be more difficult than #1 and everyone should have ample time to complete it.

I was torn as I'm sure others were. Surely its the same idea as the winner, but Material choice is clearly important on peoples opinions. I knew how both were produced, but for some reason the oddly translucent look of the winner stole my vote.

I believe you would have had more votes if this would have been obvious in the picture.

Actually, the winning entry is not hard to make, even on a manual machine. But I agree, it really stood out because of the chosen material.
