Back in the day we mostly mounted off road lights on the bumper. Just my 2 cents if you want to stay period correct.

No on the light bar... detracts from everything else that's so cool, correct, and otherwise perfect.

I swear... you nailed it with that flat-clear. Looks so good from every angle.

Another vote here for leave that roof mount light bar off. Wait until a chrome front push bar becomes available (Traxxas will offer one soon) and mount the lights to it like Penguin said.

Does anyone make scale KC Daylighter covers? That would go further to compliment the looks and era you're shooting for.

Thanxs guys for your input...the light bar will stay off of the roof! I'll have to find another rig to mount it to.

The rear bumper has been bothering me because it will most certainly act like an anchor on the rocks because it sits a little too low. I already trimmed the trailer hitch portion off, but I wanted to get the rear bumper to be situated up higher. Yes, I know it looks better in the stock location but this is a small sacrifice I will accept to improve performance.

I left the rear chassis cross-member/bumper mount in it's stock position, but I flipped the adjustable bumper mount that slides into the chassis cross-member and bolts to the bumper; this is what raises the bumper. I had to trim the rear body to clearance the flipped bumper mount and also trim a couple mils off of the chrome bumper section just above the licence plate recess so that rear of the body would clear the bumper. I raised the rear body mount one position and adjusted the shock collars to regain the original body height. The last thing I did was trim the body behind the rear fender wells to match the position of the bumper.

I'm actually quite happy with how this turned out and if I didn't mention anything, I believe most folks wouldn't have even noticed the bumper has been raised.

The first two pics are before and after.

Your father would be proud, and he will be with you when you are wheeling this in the great outdoors.

i got a soft spot for father tribute ford builds.

this is looking AWESOME! the flat clear was brilliant, and now the windows look tinted not body colored.
would love to see some vid of this in action, should crawl as good as it looks!

oh, do you plan on painting the black stripe on the chrome trim? its the only thing i see that traxxas really left out (other than ALL windows clear).

awesome looking rig, i will be checking back often, for sure!

Thank you Shinchu. I can't wait to get this Bronco out on the rocks, hopefully it will out-crawl my '66 Chev TRX4 which really set the bar high!

I sanded the raised edge of the chrome trim to expose the black plastic, but it's not very visible. I'm still contemplating whether I paint this trim or not....paint doesn't stick very well to chrome.

oh that's an even better idea! mask off the chrome you want and just sand off where it should be black. nice!

Very good idea with the rear bumper. I did mine today and made a noticeable difference in the rocks. Thanks for the idea!

The upgrades are really nice. Waiting for my bronco. It is my first crawler and I will upgrade slowly but I’m hoping follow some of your upgrade ideas.

Small update, I picked up a 9t/32p pinion at my LHS today since I'm running a 2850 kV slate motor...gotta slow it down a bit!

Still waiting for the LCG battery tray from Shapeways!

Lot's to read on your builds as always. Never a complaint here. Love your detailed write ups and your pics are so good showing what you your writing about it's just plain awesome.

The Wheel/Tire combo and Flat clear put it over the top. Like lightbars but glad you chose not to run it. Too modern looking for this build. Ans Yes the bumper made a huge difference in the look and hope it performs like you want.

I picked up a used TRX4 with a 3800kv in it a few weeks ago. Still need to test it now that the weather is clear. I can tell it will be completely ridiculous in 2nd gear. Might crawl ok if i gear it down enough but will have to do for now and save up $$ for a lower kv for when it gets hotter here.

Oh you could throw in little dust, sand, dirt clod or ?? in your pics every once in a while to make us feel better. You told me before but how you keep your RC's and room so clean is beyond comprehension.

Thanxs cmbscx10. LOL....I know, I feel bad that all the pics of my Bronco are in a "studio" environment. I should take it out to my backyard for some "dirty" pics! Soon it will see the rocks.

PS....I just noticed this is my 2000th post.

I bet the ground hawg tires from rc*wd would look cool on your bronco. Back I the day a lot of people were running them on their 1:1's. I know the tires probably won't work well. But I think the look would be great.

I finally received the Bowhouse RC LCG battery tray from Shapeways. Just a couple more items and my Bronco will be ready to hit the rocks. I'm really looking forward to see how the over/underdrive gears will improve the performance.

Looking good

Bill have you seen the video that Matteo's RC Movies did where he added a driver figure and then cut out the rear windows and added some tinted clear windows back in then flattened the removable top ?
