Damn, sometimes a day presents with adversity. I often shut er down on those days myself. Taking some time to consider what's ahead brings better flow , I find. Big picture, the Ford is looking great!

yeah just taking a step back to breathe and think on it for a bit.

The M4 screw pins have a 2.5 mm shaft and a 3/32 drill bit is about 2.4 mm. You can drill out the driveshaft adapter with the 3/32 bit then chuck the screw pin in the drill and sand down the diameter of the pin until it fits the 3/32 hole. That gets you going without the need for a metric bit.

Ya, great truck on a t-shirt, but close and made me think of a couple of crawlers on RCC. On the driveline adapter, you'll probably be better off buying a new one. Metric bits are nice, but my case of numbered bits has done just fine for any size small hole, always better to go slightly undersized bit.

Agree with Smog, gotta step back and take a late night break sometimes, otherwise that's usually when I screw up an almost finished part. Love the old trucks.

Those wheels would be nice in 1.55.

Svt923, good point on the adapter hole and screw pin. Drilling the hole too big usually results in ripping the end of the shaft under hard use.

thank you. saved the day with that post.
i drilled out the LURC adapter and T-case rear output to 3/32 already.
where i messed up is halfway through with the next size up, halfway through the LURC adapter.
best thing i can think of, i just sand down the first half of the pin so its snug in the 3/32 side, hope that will hold until i get another adapter.

you know what just occurred to me? why don't i just thread tap the whole thing out to thread a super long grub screw? match threads at top of driveshaft coupler and just go all the way through and out the back of the coupler, thread lock, easy day.

now i just need some grub screws...

The threads on the driveshaft are M4, there wouldn't be much material left on the 5 mm driveshaft adapter by the time you tap it for 4 mm threads.

So I kinda did a thing tonight...



Bit of spline showing but way more is engaged inside.
And the T-case side of the shaft is not 100% but it was good enough to make sure everything is playing nice.
Ground clearence is great and pinion angle is fantastic. So scale!


Also adjusted the GCM leafs forward one notch before putting in the shaft. Gotta say wheel base is spot-on now.

still need to get out there and finish that front driveshaft pin.
then finish prepping for paint.
including bed floor which needs styrene work
mounting - i have in idea for this involving end links in front and body pins under the bed (will open like a funny-car but backwards!)
working with a member here on a custom CNC Aluminum rear bumper SUPER ACCURATE. not sure on front bumper. traxxas bronco is a tad too wide.
LIGHTS is there a cheaper alternative to the traxxas bronco kit? and yes i would cut off the headlight LEDs and replace them with WARM white so as not to look like 6000k HIDs on a 79 ford ;)
still haven't started on the styrene work to make the bed topper more accurate either.

time has been little lately... had both boys come down with the yuck and was feeling it myself last weekend.
everyone is doing better so after we get the family out for some (much needed) fresh air and sunshine, sat/sun night should see some time on the bench!

still need to finish the chebby, too! and i have another 2 in skunkworks not quite ready for reveal yet... yep that's... *carries the 2 and uses toes* FOUR irons in the fire! the PROLINE FIRE!
