I'm running associated truck rears on my home made front shock "tower" and I have no issues with axles coming out. As long as you have the proper stroke any shock can work.

What I would like to see is the shocks layed down more toward the center of the car more like a normal 10th buggy. I know it looks more scale with them upright but it just doesn't function as well as it could. It would require cutting/modding the front body but in the name of handling I think it's worth it.

And if built right the tower would take the beating not the shock caps.

What aspect of function are you referring to?
I understand the durability advantage of leaning them inboard but from a performance point of view, I don't understand.

With the way the arms travel in an arc, as the arms move up the spring rate falls off when the shocks are stood up, right as it really needs to ramp up. When the shocks are leaned in the spring rate stays more constant.

Not that big of a deal on something with such short travel but it can be in some instances.

Shocks should be 90* in relation to the arm at full bump for the best performance. Look at any off-road race car, they are all like this.

well the EXO IFS conversions are almost done. we're on revision 30 of the Vaterra and rev 11 of the Wraith. tonight i'm going to make hopefully the last few changes to the designs of both then we're in testing mode.

i'll post pictures during the test and tune phase. everything worked out as expected but i was surprised and very proud of the steering setup, which is totally sick.

since our test twammers is very busy these days... we're looking for testers on the bell crank steering upgrade for STOCK TH shocks and STOCK TH front differential. you must be ready to install, drive and give feedback immediately. you also need to be able to post, email or message me pictures of clearance issues if any (cell to cell is fine).

in other news: the battery tray is in the works. thanks for the suggestion

Are you working on a steering set up for your stand up shock mod? I would definitely be interested in seeing that. Awesome work by the way.

sorry about that. its good-to-go now. since there are a bunch of folks interested in testing i'll probably have to do a lottery and pick 2-3 folks....

but that will be next week after 4th of july celebrations!

if the standard mount works the upright shock mount should also work. anyway it wouldn't be a big deal to make them also. i just need to get some feedback from the smaller standard shock plate.

Include me in that testing lottery if you want feedback from a bone stock TH pilot. Even though my butt's not in the seat I seem to have a pretty good feel for what is going on with the handling at speed.

I'm defiantly watching this one to see where it goes. I've got a TH I've just started to mod, A wraith that needs new life breathed into it. Plus enough parts to make a WRexo
Good luck with the development

I'd love to test the steering setup. Or anything for that matter :^) I bought the first version shock mount and love it. Keep up the good work bmrc!

Sorry guys but I had to go out of town on somewhat of a rush business trip.

Here are some pics i took although they are already a week old and obsolete. i'm putting the finishing touches on the new designs then its onto production.

note these are PROTOTYPE parts... never screwed on tightly or intended to be used. for example the EXO diff required clearance for the ring gear so i simply cut a thru hole. the production parts will have a milled slot instead of the thru-cut rectangle.

thanks!

Vaterra - EXO conversion prototype pictures

Wraith - EXO conversion prototype pics:

Vaterra Bell Crank steering conversion project:
we are currently having clearance issues. the TH front diff is actually bulkier with more plastic crap than the EXO front diff. there is less room with the stock diff and its causing a temporary problem. after we engineer a solution we will be sending this out to product testers.

note: this is the same steering setup as on the other 2 conversions i just didn't have time to mount the blue bellcrank steering linkage to the other pics.
