Yah, i know. That's what i meant too. Although, If i could get a working brake system that is the correct scale you know i would be using it!
Man at this point in the build I wouldnt put anything past you.

Bloody awesome, I would be interested to know how tough this will be,
doesn't appear as though it will be as tough as say a plastic r/c car.

Juls.
Well i don't want it to be as strong as a hard plastic body. bending and denting is the real goal. I think though, with all the supports that i am adding it will be surprisingly strong and i feel it will hold up fairly well.

Thanks man! If i ever get this one done everyone will see some real carnage!!

I'm glad you noticed the drip rails! I was beginning to think no one did.

Sorry for the long delay updating this, I've had little time with everything going on to work on it and no time to keep with the updates but don't worry there is some progress

Well I finally got more resin and more silicone but this time from a different supplier at a cheaper price. works just as good.

Anyways I poured the molds for the inner roof structure

And made a few test pieces of course

But before i can install the roof pieces the next step in completing the cab was to finish the fire wall and cowl.

First i needed the bottom of the cowl. The panel that creates the air box for the vents and seperates the cowl fron the inside of the cab.

once again i employed clay over a cowl panel to create the basic shape

then latex and resin for the final product

And a test piece as usual

There are more details needed to finish the mold such as holes for the vent tubes and bosses for the steering column but for now this will do.

with the bottom done i glued it to the cowl top

Makes a nice little box huh?

this isn't just for detail, this part gives the cowl and firewall it's strength.

next is the firewall

And finally in place on the cab for good

That's it for now. Next is the roof and under structure and the main cab section is done.

More later!

Very nice build! after thumbing through the 18 pages and noticing how you basically made you body panel's just like the factory would have stamped out of steel is amazing, with the great detail and patience. I know it were me i'd prolly make the local recycler happy with all the aluminum i'd be bring him? LoL... Can't Wait to see MORE!! Tim,

I held this cab in my hand today

All I can say is Blake's craftsmanship is truly amazing. The cab weighs virtually nothing. The detail is unreal! I know you can see it in this thread, but to actually see it in person and hold it in your hands is really quite a treat.

Thank you Blake for this unique opportunity, and I am looking forward to the finished masterpiece

Yep that was the plan all along. as far as scrap panels... Time will tell how big the pile gets

I always make extra panels

Thanks!

More Progress

It's finally time to get this cab together. There are so many parts that need to fit correctly i was loosing sleep over doing the final gluing But after test fitting many times i finally got the glue out.

Here are some shots of the test fitting and a shot just to show how much structure is under the roof skin

you can also see my method of holding it all together. You can never have to many clamps ;)

next i laid on some glue to the inner structure

And finally the roof skin was on for good and i have a cab!!

And a few inside shots

and oh yes, it has drip rails! ;D

finally some shots on the chassis

Now it's time to mount the rad support, make my inner fenders and a few minor details and the cab will be fully complete.

Gettin so close i can almost taste it!!
