Went to mock everything up and,ran into a little snag.Tried a 12t pinion but...............
Pic is with a 15t pinion.Time to upgrade as soon as I can find the Super Shafty one piece outputs with 40t,32p gear.Sholud have enough clearance then.

Curious to hear how that servo performs. I almost ordered one last week. I ended up getting instead.

So glad to see this rig is still being worked on Pat.

This rig has reinspired me as well. I love this body style; back in high school a good friend had a '66 longbed and another friend had a ''62 unibody. I had a '67 which I also loved.

I'm gonna buy a couple of these bodies for a time when I can do a proper build of Sam Collins' truck and in preparation for Proline discontinuing it.

I think eventually mine will head in the direction of Sam's truck.Decided not to go overboard yet.Figured it would be better to just get it DONE first.
I have a couple of spares right now and, plan on picking up at least a couple of more as money permits. It's always my luck that PL discontinues the ones I really like.
I've always loved the '61-'66 body style.I've had 2 of the unibodies and a '63 with the mismatched bed.

Love this truck and yours is coming along very nicely Pat!

I myself had a '63 long bed step side and loved it.

Today is my lucky day.
v84x4/Supershafty.com was able to help me out with the outputs and 40t gear I was wanting. If I did my calculations correctly, with a 10t pinion,it should give me just a hair over 2mm more clearance than the pic I posted earlier.
If I have to,I'll take a little of the thickness off where the servo mounts.Hopefully I won't have to resort to that.

It's sitting at about 12-7/8" right now. That's without the extra weight on it.

Well, got my bomb proof outputs/40t gear in the mail today.Makes a world of difference with my clearance issue.
Currently have a 10t gear on but, should be able to go down 1 or 2 teeth if needed.Pic of pinions is a comparison between the 15t/48p and,10t/32p gears.
Now I can think about getting everything wired and, work on my bumpers.Still waiting on a couple of parts from the waterjet for the bumpers and sliders.
Getting closer.

Yes he is.The 40t gear was out of stock but he said he had 1 he could sell me.He put it on the site and then emailed to tell me to get it before someone beat me to it.Needless to say,I won.

I bet you all thought I forgot about this.
Between working 6 days a week and driving lessons for my daughter on Sundays,I've been a little busy.Made a little time this weekend and got some work done on the bumpers.
I haven't brazed in a few years and,I'm trying an oxy/mapp torch I bought about 10 years ago and never used.I think I like it better than the straight mapp torch.
I still need to sandblast them and get the top plate on the front bumper so I can mount the winch. Then,I can paint and mount them to see how they look.
May have to redo the rear one.The bottom bar slid over a hair when I was brazing it.Also,I think my joints aren't as good (fair?) as the front one.
Maybe I'm just being a little too anal considering I'm a machinist and like things a little more exact.Anyways, here's a couple of pics to show where I'm at at the moment.

Well at least you're still working on yours. Haha our project is in pieces on a table in the eat-in kitchen nook. Need to replace the trans case and still trying to figure out how to mount the rear portion of the body. Searching for a work bench for the garage so I can clean up the kitchen.

Bumpers look good! Love the simplicity of the rear one.

Got the front bumper done and painted.
Need to redo the rear one.Apparently I over heated the bracket joints and they didn't hold too well.Oh well.Live and learn.
Also, got my sheet metal guy at work to form the slider plates for me.I have 2 options to mount them. One is low mounted with the outer flange pointing up.That way the flange comes to just under the rockers. If I mount them this way,I'll mount some form of bar to look like a regular slider.
The other way is high mounted with the outer flange pointing down. This way the outer flange is pointing down and sits inside the body, just peeking out below the rockers. No room this way to mount an outer slider bar.

Really like that front bumper. I need to get me a work bench so I can at least take a stab at bending some metal.

Thanks.
I'm lucky and have the right equipment at work for forming.Found an old metal cart at work that they let me have.Modified it to the right height and now have that in my garage for brazing on.Makes it much nicer than the old metal bookcase and edge of the BBQ I had to use at the old apartment.
Next will be some sort of bench and,my building should get easier.
