Here's a quick pic of the turn radius of the wheels - please note, I'm missing wheels and steering rods....

Well the axles proved to be the single hardest step to do. The pivot ball part was a piece of cake - the rest not so much.

This is the step I gotta give 3Racing some crap about. None of the 'A'/'B' parts are marked. So you really need to study the drawings and then look at the parts pages at the back of the manual.

Anyways....... They have you build it upside down, and it goes together easy enough, except for the shock mounts. These have to be the single most annoying part I've ever attached to a classes.

The changing of the castor degree is pretty nifty - little markings on the pieces represent 2 degrees. Hopefully the pics show them

Be aware that the pivot ball piece is built wrong in all the single pics. It's since been fix

Sorry the assembly isn't going as well as you'd like. :( Let's hope driving it will make up for any emotional damage you sustain!

Looks like about 40 degrees one way and 45 the other. Are there any steering stops that could be clearanced, or would the universals not rotate fully at a higher angle?

Nothing is in the way, and it's a CVD in the front. That pic was before I had the ball holder in place, so it was a little sticky. But it's definitely more than my scx10

The did the work to make sure it all clears everything

Heheheh. It's not horrible, attaching the shock points/mounts was the worse since they aren't keyed to anything so they'll slide and you need a 3rd hand.

The other part is I'm used to part numbers/letters on the trees and they don't do that. Not a biggie, I've built worse kits (a yokomo rally car comes to mind)

That is one complicated axle. I like the steering clearance though. Did you take a picture of the ring and pinion under the pumpkin cover before you closed it up?

You must have an original Scx10 then?

Now we're making some progress.

Links completed

The disk brakes serve a dual purpose, the look cool behind a wheel and the also cover/protect the balls - pretty slick on 3Racing's part

Front axle now in place and all bolted together.

This went together super easy, for what it's worth

And at some point I'll pull the brakes and the rotors off and I'll have arts & crafts day and do some painting/detailing.

I'll probably figure out a way to weather/age the chassis

nice! and yes those brakes need paint. i think they assume people will do that. only bummer about those is you are stuck with those hexes, unless you belt sand them for less offset. yeah I'm one of those weirdos who like the tires inside the fenders lol

nice progress, I'm still watching!

i'm a big fan of the tires staying under the body as well, or maybe just a touch outside the body. i hate seeing rigs with the super offset wheels

i think if i do anything, modification-wise, with these, it'll be to remove the hexes and use the rotor and shoes - they are really cool and i'm a big fan of clamping wheel hexes

Jato asked what the inside of the diff looked like and I put the front together without pics. So I took some

So to finish off the rear axle was a piece of cake maybe I'm learning

Main diff builds the same as the front. Joint #2 is the same as the front. Loads the CVD in (nice touch 3Racing, by the way)

2 bearings support the end of the CVD and the straight end adapters with bearings.

More links to build and then it's time to hang this axle off the chassis

The diff gears look very strong, and very similar to scx10.2 gears. I wonder if they are the same/compatible? Is the width of the axles the same as scx10.2 axles?
