well if this is gonna be a 'build-up' then i gotta post some more pics from the beginning to keep you guys happy here are some of the better ones from the early stages: inside of the hood & outside of the mold ie ugly side up thats epoxy reinforced with sawdust bogged up some star rims to get what i wanted: before, during and after on the bed detailing: CAD is extremely useful for getting chassis etc the right shape: gotta love the rust heres the winch closeup (high res) - most of it is made from aluminium with some wooden dowel on one end and blazing star shock parts on the other: And finally, heres the start of the bench seat (this mornings work) - polystyrene covered with cloth then brushed with PVA, it should look better after some more coats and some paint once again, thanks for the support ur making me want to do a good job of it... instead of putting it on the shelf and buying a hilux hey obijuan - I love ur doublecab with the horns! update time again I managed to get 1 of 3 deck panels hinged, i gotta get some more 5mm square steel to run along the top of each panel (thats why the vertical struts are overlength. I may also get some nice countersunk screws to make it all a bit more flush. The seats are almost ready to be painted, just gotta give them some more glue and chop them in half so the motor fits:-( no, they wont stay red... oh and i got some better pics of the tires, will these do? notice the join is cracking slightly (only had normal ca), the join is reasonably clean when ground though. the rear doesent have wheel nuts as i havent threaded my 5mm shaft yet... these tires take 2 pumkin tires for each one cause those tires have a thick and a thin sidewall (different each side) and only the thick sidewall is strong enough. the current front tires on this rig are made with thin sidewalls, they only reason they arent collapsing is cause i got rock hard foams in them. This has got to be some of the best fabrication work that I have seen on this site. By the way, I am gonna copy your rims for my truck. I have been wanting a set of "steelies" for a while now and didn't know how to get the look. Thanks.

Mainly just beat up the wood and give it lotsa stain;) I dunno about the shop its pretty grotty but it does suit the build I wanna see some more 1/8 scalers running BFGs... they may work alright on a masher sidewall just a note, there aint much rc stuff where i live, almost all my stuff is fabricated or tamiya parts (thats about all the LHS can get) | |
