well its my birthday on the 19th and i think i may order a pair of the rc4wd dana's. Sure, they wont be handmade by me but they will make the rig bloody rugged and they wont hurt the looks Shipping to nz may be a bit... So, has anyone here had good/bad experiences with them? (i should probably ask this somewhere else) I think i can trust them, they seem very solid. I got my tires but i gotta wait on my rubberised ca to arrive from the composites store. Shipping cost twice as much as the glue:? And i dunno about posting on scale4x4, they seem abit uptight after reading Dirks experiences Frac |

looks like i gotta order some nice beefy axles then I did get the front seat done, the roof (sitting next to it) is what colour the seat was before i dirtied it. I did the weathering by dry brushing it(really scrubbing it hard with hardly any paint) first with orange and then with black. Black paint works great for general grime, provided its used sparingly some stripes on it would be good but i cant really be bothered detailing it much more - the windows will probably be lightly tinted anyway. Time to photoshop a dash to print out and stick on Frac |

| I don't think you will have any problem on scale i would post it up over there for sure. some people that have had problems there. went there to create them and it wasn't aloud so they left. no big loss to the sight. scale caters to what you are doing scale stuff this sight is more about crawlers, but anymore there are just as many great scalers on here. the interior looks great. and as for rc4wd I have not had nay problems yet. and the new axle's look great. |

| needs a winch!!!
Hay,Fracture you should think about modeling up a fake winch to sit in front to hide the real winch.. heres a shot of one I made I think this style winch would fit your rig perfectly! But im sure your paint will come out way cooler! But what ever you do Im sure it will be kick a$$!!!!!!! |

Beautiful truck there! May I ask, what CAD program do you use? Can't wait to see more of it. |

Hey guys, been away for the weekend so no progress yet sorry. Quote:
And yup, i have a winch, it just isnt mounted properly yet therefore its only in some pics. I dunno if i would want to sell this, not with the work i've put into it. If i did then the shipping would be an absolute killer Anyone in NZ want it? j/k Frac Last edited by Fracture; 01-12-2008 at 05:24 PM.

Congrats on the gold star win! I can't wait to see some t-rex axles under that thing. You should definitely weather them, the polished diff cover would look so out of place on that truck it's not even funny.

No updates apart from painting most of the alu & galv black: Quote:
Heres the axle with leaf springs attached, I have a tie rod mounted above the axle to prevent axle wrap. the axle tubes are 11mm brass tubing with brass bushings soldered onto the ends (behind the hex). the leafspring clamps (threaded rod) are bent around the axle tube and soldered tight so they dont move. note how the highlift housing has had the knuckles cut off. The random fat bit of threaded rod is the lower shock mount. here is an exploded view, the brass axle tubes are sandwiched between the plastic housing. they are free to slide out when the wheels are removed. The axle gets its strength from a 5mm axle shaft (i havent threaded the ends for wheel nuts yet) The plastic housings have also been trimmed inside so that the brass tube can slide as far in as possible. Here are both axle tubes in place: the front is the same except it has brass blocks soldered to it with aluminium plates screwed on for the kunckle to pivot between. The front axle is relatively weak because it uses stock highlift shafts (instead of a continuous piece of 5mm rod) therefore the axle can 'sag' slightly in the middle. the truck wights heaps and therefore i need the t-rex axles. these modded highlift housings would be more than adequate on a light vehicle,- the rear axle is definately strong enough. lets hope some of all that made some sense. the reason I modded them was so I could realistixcally clamp them to the leaf springs and so the rear axle had a more realistic profile. Also i dont like the highlift plastic so i wanted to replace as much as possible with brass. now I gotta reassemble the rear axle so I hope i answered youre question frac no i never capitalise my i's...
