If I'm looking at it right, looks like you could do some trimming and set the tranny down in the skid a little.

Also, are you only running 2 of the 3 large gears out of the Berg?

Yes..... Loose one Berg Gear cluster.

I make you a deal..... You test one and tell me how to change it. I have thought about this 20 different ways..... I want to keep my skid the same so it will fit in any truck. If I had a stubby motor and a longer skid it would sit down in the belly of the skid. Just loosing the heavy metal spur some guys are running will do wonders for the truck.

Bring it. Kinda looked like it could drop down some. I totally agree with making it fit the existing Axial hope pattern. I'm running a 61 tooth 32p steel gear would love to get rid of that monster.

Well..... I received the bearings I had been waiting a week for today and I made some good progress on the lathe tonight. I should have several trannys ready to send out by Monday...... I think I have two in this batch that aren't spoken for yet.

That rocks...

Was looking for something like that at my local HS for you yesterday Barry. Here is that I came up with. But yours is better.

would be awesome if you could machine a skid that threads the tranny down from the top, use flat head screws, then there would be a nice little spot under that shaft for an esc, or radio, or bec, or combo of those... not to mention a smooth skid.

I have plans for a custom skid later for my chassis but for right now I want to have a universal fit so anyone can use it.

yeah i understand that, but there's no reason you couldn't have the tranny be adaptable either way... that way it can be the user's choice.

I have been enjoying this transmission in my Shafty. It is quiet, smooth, and I have pounded on it hard. I am sure it can be abused and be unhurt. Fun thing is I can drive the truck upside down now without a body and no spur gear is exposed to get hit

The R2 is setup so it can be mounted to the vertical plates or skid...this gives the option of having a smooth skid.

Got mine a few days ago and it was worth every penny and then some. Very nice work. It is very small and quiet. You should post up a pic of the tranni apart with gears and list for people which gears to buy. Not everyone knows bergs like you and I, that's all I will run. The bind indicator noise of the xr and the price involved in fixing it definitely makes these superior to an xr tranni for ax10. Keep up the great work

Also,I was just playing around and used a hot racing first big gear and it fits perfect. So if people want to stay with 48 pitch instead of .6 mod they could.

If I remember correctly it takes the locker gear(4th gear), big 2nd, and small 3rd gear. I used RcBros gears and SDS 300M 3rd. Fit and finish is perfect, everything fits very tightly and meshes good. I've been beating mine up trying to find any weaknesses and I'm happy to report I haven't found any issues at all.
