Well, it's gotta be a Shorty pack, or it won't fit. They are inherently lighter than the full-size packs typically used in most rigs. Another reason why this rig will remain light and nimble, with a pretty low COG - most of the weight is pretty low, in the links and at each corner in the geared portals.

Axial quote:

BATTERY TRAY
The battery tray is forward mounted, and located under the hood. The tray size is built for shorty packs, at a maximum size of 26mm x 98mm x 47mm.

Example: ProTek 4100mAh 3S LiPo Shorty Pack:

24.3mm x 93mm x 43.2mm

My bet is on China first. It would be cool to see Horizon offer brass mods though.

Don’t need much free time with a Protek LiPo. It’ll puff quickly!

In all seriousness, I've seen many puffed Protek batteries in real life. I've read lots of stories online too. I believe it was @Natedog that had similar issues.

LOLz - There's a handful of shorty 3S packs on the market - most are around 3000mAh. That's the standout, as far as increased capacity... It's supposed to be better than their slightly smaller capacity pack that has been out for a while... reportedly less likely to puff. But, Gens Ace has one, and Reedy has one, too. Horizon will have their Dynamite 3S shorty out soon, as well. My only shorty is a Dynamite 2S that I got for my Ascender when it was new - and I used it so rarely that it will no longer respond to a charge, even though I storage charged it.

Thanks, man - I had been checking specs at various websites of different models, trying to figure out how much the smaller size compared to the Bomber was going to work out.

Starting a thread elsewhere about the different purchase options we will have this holiday season...

Gonna pay particular attention to how your Capra build goes. I know you've had a wide assortment of crawlers, be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Durok, picture in your mind's eye either a cut up Jeep CJ or a 1st gen Landcruiser looking body. You could build a supplemental front bumper, something like the one on my Bomber. I get it that its a "buggy" (I struggle with that title for this rig, buggies race desert and baja). Put a spare on the back, a little Bomberesque in appearance. Throw a winch up front...... Too easy to alter the appearance, with minimal effort.

Sorry - you may be responding to my last post before I edited it - I decided not to clutter this Capra-specific thread with part of the post, created a new thread instead for that. I do like the Capra from most angles, but the large void under the nose visible mainly from the side is not appealing to me. I don't really think a lexan cutdown body would fix the issue. However, just like when a new 1:1 car comes out - it usually takes me a while to "get used" to the look. That's why I'm waiting...

(I really gotta hit the sack - 4AM wakeup for work tomorrow!)

Can it be true? Axial's website is showing the lexan body panels / interior as pre-cut and pre-drilled?

I wouldn't see why not. The Bomber panels and interior were pre-cut and pre-drilled from what I remember.

Thanks for sharing that. So the width is somewhere between AR44s and AR60s I assume.

Apparently people are still unconvinced that a full size pack won't fit and needed visual proof from Rich.

Man, this thing addresses pretty much all of my complaints on the Wraith platform. Can't wait for it to show up!

Parts list so far looks like:
Mamba Micro X
Castle BEC
Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro Stubby 2700kv
Futaba A700 servo (I guess that's one way to find out how tough those c-hubs are!)
RC4WD Compass 4.75" tires
KMC XD222 wheels

All of the above will be "borrowed" from other cars, but I'll likely keep them in the Capra and replace the missing pieces with different stuff anyway. I'm hoping my 2200mah 3s packs fit, but it's gonna be close in length. I still need to figure out a dig servo, grab a couple cans of paint, and I might as well order foams at the same time (thinking C.I. dual stage, soft front, medium rear) if either SSD or Axial 6 bolt OD gears are available by then, I'll throw a set on that order too. I think that ought to cover it?
