One extreme to another:

$39.99 for all 4 (first set - Injora off-brand 1.9")

$195.99 for all 4 (second set - Locked Up RC 1.9" - includes all hardware, "TrailReady HD 8L" wheels, widening rings, "Command" beadlock rings)

I chose the "8L" style of LURC wheels partly because they require no hubs - they are one piece wheels/hex hubs (third pic, mounted inside RC4WD Interco Ground Hawg tire - below tire, left wheel is Injora and right is another unmounted LURC)

I heard the SSD scale hardware strips easily and dosen't play nice with M2 scale drivers, even the Lockedup rc tools.

But it looks like the only option.

I don't have any on hand to test that out... but I'd say that scale hardware by nature of its size tends to cause problems.

My 1.7" RC4WD RaceLine beadlock wheel hex bolts and the LURC hex bolts both needed a gentle touch when tightening.

The end result is certainly a gorgeous piece of work, but I probably won't make a habit of building wheels like these in the future.

Man those command rings are sweet, I know first hand, I have them on my ascender. I have mine on the centre-lines, also with a 7mm ring spacers.

Saturday, 6/30/2018, nearly 2 years after the initial purchase date of my Axial Bomber kit from Tower Hobbies (7/26/2016 to be exact)...

I spent roughly 12 hours VERY slowly gathering together about half of my total parts purchased over that entire length of time and basically shut up and began to build it.

Gotta say the SSD HD centered axle shafts are very nice, as they are NOT drilled for hex hub pins. Instead they have flats machined on them and came with titanium hex hubs that have matching shapes machined out of their centers - axles and universals ALWAYS break where they are drilled... Shouldn't have to worry with this design!

I had to use Vanquish C-hubs because the Incision VDI universals have oversized joints and wouldn't fit the SSD Pro C-Hubs I originally purchased...
That's OK, I guess - it's just that I just wanted to use as much SSD hardware as possible on this rig, because I'm a fan. Ah, well...

I used Vanquish brass knuckle bushings, but they were a little too thick to use them top and bottom on each knuckle - so I used Axial black metal (steel?) bushings from the kit in the lower position (I tested with only the Axials and had tons of slop) and a very thin shim to get them totally snug...

Shimming the ring & pinion only required a .3mm shim in the rear and a .3mm plus a .1mm in the front, all under the pinion gear inside the diff housing. A little roughness was detected, but I'd rather break them in than run them loose.

Even though I did buy myself a little cordless bit-driver a while back, for this part I did it all by hand. It took me ages, but I was going about it pretty easy, taking frequent breaks. Got an errand to run later today for a few hours (been up ALL night - need to sleep some first!) and then I suppose it's shocks and the transmission.



As you can tell, I basically used nothing from the kit - this build will pretty much only use the cage and a couple minor things. OK, with that - I'm OUT!

They use the best in the biz - Traxxas Revo rod-ends, nice and thick and strong.

The SuperShafty BombProof trailing arms are also available in 7075 aluminum as well as stainless steel - and slide over rocks in either material much better than common 6061 aluminum does:

The stainless ones are sold out, but the 7075 (very hard!) aluminum ones are just as beefy - and if you check the various colors available you should be able to pick up a pair that's in stock.

They are identical, except for weight - and that can be a good thing, depending...

Also - if you HAVE to have the SS ones, you can reach out directly to JEC Racing on FaceBook, if you do that sort of thing - I got the rest of my links that way.

He will even custom engrave the trailing arms with words or even a cool logo if you ask nicely!

I have this transmission setup - although I don't have extensive experience with them (this is the second I have assembled), I liked to spend time with it!
Are you doing 2 speed setup? If so, are you setting up a neutral too?
