Default My SCX10 Land Rover

Hi guys

i'm new here and just discovered this section dedicated to the SCX10. I just built one and transformed it into a land rover using an HPI d90 body, and some scale land rover wheels. Then i custom made a soft top, sitting on a made to fit styrene frame and recently i fabricated my own winch bumper to hold my scale winch. Here are some pics of it...hope you like

Looks good~ I like the tires/rims. Are they beadlocks? or glue on tires?

not beadlocks and not glued either but they are holding on so far... if i will take part into something requiring some hard abuse i'll just mount back the stock flatirons on beadlock rims...but for scale looks i prefer these then

thanks

here is another more recent photo during some testing in the garden.

Just ordered a couple of new soft springs for the rear so maybe rear wheels wont lift so much. The stock ones (medium) are too hard for the rear since there is no weight. I might add some weight to rear wheels as well. Front seems ok.

thanks again for the kind comments guys

i found the wheels and tyres on ebay so i dont know from where they came from...they were listed as scale landrover wheels with tamiya hilux tyres. These are plastic not the steel ones.

...i did find the same tyres listed at RC4WD...rock crushers if i remember well.

did some test runs with the beadlock flatirons fitted on and they actually do perform much better than the aftermarket scale landrover ones. The flatirons are softer and grip more + the fact that they are bigger. I did try to put the flatirons on the landrover wheels but they would need to be glued which i dont want. So i'm staying on my scale rims for looks and easy trials but for comps i'll definitely use the flatirons on beadlocks. I am sanding the green paint off the beadlock rings, leaving them aluminium colour and while at it i'm gonna spray the wheels black and add weights.

Easy-off oven cleaner will take the green right off.

3 to 5 minutes and rinse with water, you'll have a nice clean aluminum finish without any abrasion marks. It looks good on mine but I don't have any photos yet.

AHHH!!!! ...LOL just read your posts after lots of swearing with sandpaper LOL ...but i did manage to take the green off as well ...used a fine one so not to scratch the aluminium.

regarding the rims i think the RC4WD ones are steel and pretty pricey as well

the tires and wheels come from the same guy in Hong Kong who sells the hard plastic D90 bodies. The rubber is nice and sticky with the hardness of a RC4WD rock stomper, but it has a much more functional tread pattern.

yep that's where i got mine ...was really tempted to get a hard body as well but the HPI body is an easier fit.

some fresh pics... now with the stock beadlock wheels on. Added some 60grams weight to each wheel as well while they were unmounted.
